TJ Ribs - went on a weekend night recently, 6 pm, no weather issues. Might have been 25% occupancy. Can't see them being around a great deal longer if that is the norm.
Absolutely do it.

I bought a used BMW convertible at age 50, thought I'd keep it for a year or two and be tired of it. I'm in year 7 now, can't give it up. Most fun I've had driving a vehicle. Is it practical? Not at all. Do I care? Nope.

Do it.

Everyone blaming the portal misses...

Yes, Jay missed on position players in the portal, no argument there, he freely admitted that.

But was that really this team's biggest problem?

Pitching, particularly free passes, statistically was their biggest flaw. And I would argue that the majority of that was returning players regressing and freshman just never developing. Add to that the worst season of defensive catching we've witnessed (returning player and a freshman), and those are what contributed to allowing 10+ runs per game routinely. Sure, errors by portal transfers added to that misery, but the hideous amounts of walks, past balls, wild pitches really can't be pinned on the portal misses.

Sorry I didn't post official stats, but at a glance, this team finished middle of the pack on offense, but near (if not at) the bottom in runs allowed.

All this to ask the question - even if Jay hits on the portal transfers next season - does that guarantee that there will be postseason baseball at the Box again next June? My concern is that pitching development is a lot larger issue than getting a couple of big bats in the lineup.

I realize Jay's a whole lot smarter than all of us combined, just hoping he spends a lot more time adressing the pitching approach and developmental problems than just spending lots of money on big bats this offseason.

Notes taken for Artemis 3:

2. Find alternative to Navy trying to construct a front porch.
LOL, Elon might land on Mars before the front porch gets erected
So did the front porch have a hole in it? They were spreading it out in the water, but now it's gone?
Can I get betting odds on whether or not the porch gets inflated before sundown or not?
Ironic, as I sit in my office drinking coffee as my 8:00 interview was a no-show. As was my noon interview yesterday.

Do they call, email, or text to say "Thanks for considering me, but I've decided not to come for the interview"? No, they just simply agree to a time, then never show up.

I request my HR person to schedule at least 8 interviews, knowing that at least four of them will be a no-show.

Spare me your whining kid.

Whether it was the "best atmosphere" or not I suppose is debatable. But I've been at every home game since 1992, and I can easily say that this one was my favorite. If you lived through the Spurrier domination, and the Curley Hallman years - it's like this night was a release of epic proportions.

Many other games have come close, but this night in Tiger Stadium is still the GOAT to me personally
You probably don't want to watch this week's Paradise episode.
One of my best friends, since childhood. He became a defense attorney, then did some years at the DA's office. He's now a judge.
Spent a week in Morenci (and Clifton) in 1995. Doesn't appear a lot has changed, other than Morenci looks a bit nicer and more developed than I recall.

One funny thing I remember is asking somebody about washing their car, and they chuckled. There's always so much dust in the air, your car would be filthy again in an hour.

Thanks for sharing that video, trip down memory lane....

If any of you happen to have any baseballs "signed" by Skip Bertman from the mid 90's, I can introduce you to my friend whose job as a student worker was to sign a 5 gallon bucket of balls each day at work.....

If you don't see them sign with your own eyes, they didn't sign it.
I survived the Alex Box rain storm June 10, 2023.
No way Jay, err, NCAA officials make us play at 1:00.
My mom grew up in a house close to him. Her favorite story was him coming home one time (after he was big and famous), having a bad day. She told me he had a big fancy Cadillac that he drove to the middle of the soybean field between their house and hers, poured gasoline all over it, and lit it on fire. She told me her house shook when it exploded. She had no idea why he did it, other than to say "that was just Jerry Lee, he was crazy".

Last SEC baseball title was 2017?

Posted by OllaTiger on 5/5/25 at 2:16 pm
Was just wondering the last time LSU won the regular season title in baseball.
If I looked at things correctly, it was in 2017, LSU went 21-9.

Since then: (wins, final place)

2018 - 15, tied for 7th
2019 - 17, 5th
2020 - COVID
2021 - 13, tied for 8th
2022 - 17, 4th
2023 - 19, 3rd
2024 - 13, 7th
2025 - Currently tied for 3rd with 15 wins

Just a bit surprising that LSU hasn't even finished runner up in SEC standings in the last 8 seasons. (Florida and Arkansas both won 20 in 2023, so maybe 19-10 was sort of runner up up?)

Not sure anybody's catching Texas this season, but a runner up finish would help offset the lower RPI, I would think? 20 wins would definitely be an accomplishment in this year's league.

Here's hoping the bats rise from the ashes and a little Box magic for the weekend before hitting the road against a 5 win team to finish strong.

Looks like lightning delay.
This could be a long night, they have a LOT of games to get in before tomorrow.
