RIP to The Great Zombie Manifesto (and as always: frick you, Chicken, for allowing it to disappear into the depths of internet hell). It's both sad and insane that it's been that long. If that thread was a person it could vote now, and I have to go lie down.

For those not around back then (which is most of you at this point), it was one of the biggest threads the site had seen and was remarkably on-topic after dozens of pages, which was no small feat back then. It discussed a very wide variety of details and strategies to follow should the ZA (Zombie Apocalypse) ever come to fruition.

IIRC, the meeting place was Tiger Stadium, with plans of how to further fortify it and make it safe. There would be tunnel and catwalk systems to accommodate the whores (which was no longer derogatory toward women, but affectionate). There were plans to raid outlying supply centers and whatnot. Mike the Tiger will be a line of defense, as will a moat around the field if TS were to ever be infiltrated. And the last line of defense was blasting Thriller over the loudspeakers and then killing the zombies as they lined up and danced.

I used to have a cliffnotes version of the thread, but I think I threw it out when I left my last job. I do have most of the thread saved into a Word document though, and it's still a pretty entertaining read.

Anyway, I realize that most of you won't have any idea what I am talking. So just know that fifteen years ago marked arguably the greatest achievement TD has ever seen.

ETA: Check it - proof of the thread in action

ETA2: Ten year thread.

ETA3: Thread from 2008 discussing it

you aren't going to like my hot take, but here it is

That thread has manifested into one of the more over rated of all times.

Wouldn't even make a top 10

Friend fingered dog's butt still has to be up there. Surely that one has disappeared forever.

Aah memories... I remember this well and I was a relatively new member at the time. Hard to believe that was 18 years ago...

It was groundbreaking for the site and something that could not happen today

However, no thread could be the greatest ever without OT love triangles, or secret relationships being exposed, or people locking themselves into small rooms

also, shoutout to the thunderdome days as well

I was in a rental in Gonzales while my wife was in grad school and my entire family lost all of their shite in Katrina. This place and that thread gave me a nice break. Remember, there was no mobile site because smart phones weren't a thing yet. I would retreat to our back patio with the laptop late at night and catch up on the daily plans.

And who new we were way ahead of our time with Mike being our protection? They had an entire storyline in The Walking Dead about a tiger used for protection.

That thread and the one when Cauble called out Jake are two of my all-time favorites.

I’m still partial to the thread about some guy shitting on their bakers rack or whatever it is.

That was quality programming.

I missed that one. And what's funny is that I have no idea if you're joking or being dead serious.

For most, sure. But SS would had to have registered and joined in the bullshite immediately. Just seems like the type.

Wow. This is depressing. That web archive is a hell of a blast. I opened it to check for posters I remember and I find that not only was I posting but I was a subject.

I was hungover that day and still remember reading it while drinking coffee. It was hilarity.
