Only thing that would justify it...is the intruder angle.
these "castle," and "stand your ground" laws are being abused, we don't know all of the details, but assuming he wakes up from a dead sleep(with family in the house,) and just starts indiscriminately(pun intended,) bussin' caps, the dude doesn't need to own a gun

WTF?
Dog barking at intruder.....Intruder hiding in closet....shooter announces himself to the intruder.....intruder bursts out of closet toward shooter....shooter shoots intruder.
How is that indiscriminately bussin caps?

Hopefully the dad was black.

So we are only allowed to assume that he was indiscriminately bussin caps and abusing the castle doctrine.
So instead of innocent until proven guilty....he is guilty until proven innocent?

I see no problem with this. You break in my house you are getting blasted regardless of whether you are there to shoplift the tv or the pooty.

didn't say that, just said that these laws are being abused, where I live we have at least 2-3 shootings per month, resulting in death, in instances where the use of deadly force is certainly not warranted, that go unprosecuted because of these laws

How are they being abused? Examples?
Are they being abused....or do you just not agree with the law?
And until any other details surface this case looks like it is justified.

The race of the girl is going to be pivotal IMO. If she's white, ohhhh boy
she's not white.
Here's the shooter's family.
Not sure how race matters in this at all.
17 yr old should've known better.
14 yr old should've known better.
Dad felt his house was threatened and took care of business. Dude was found in the guest bedroom closet by the dad.

agree with the law, but, as is usually the case, the pendulum swings too far

It was determined that Oscar's story did not fit the standard of being reasonable....also that is a different country with different laws.
Not only that but he was prosecuted, served enough time to meet parole, granted parole, was released, AND then the prosecutors appealed the decision, had the charge elevated, he got prosecuted a second time at the higher charge, and was sent back to prison.
Then on top of that, the prosecutors are appealing that the sentence was too easy and are trying to get it increased!!!
Man, no matter what the hell is going on in this country, I am glad to live here.

He hit his target, so I don't know if indiscriminate is the word you'd like to use.

Damn... pretty sad for the kid that died. From his twitter:

Me: sneaking out of my bedroom to get a bag of cheetos and making myself a sandwich at 1 am

The homeowner told deputies that his dog had begun barking, so he got his pistol and shouted for anyone in the home to come out. He says that when he checked the guest bedroom closet, a man ran out towards him and he fired once in self-defense.

Very possible. What's not in doubt, however, is that any guy will ever try sneaking into his daughter's room again.

Both of the kids were stupid. Why didn't she speak up? "Um dad, I'm really sorry but I invited a friend over, please don't kill my friend."
Why didn't he speak up? "Sir, I'm really sorry I came into your house so late, I'm a a friend of your daughters, I'm unarmed, and will talk or leave or whatever you tell me to, please don't kill me."
