Yes I listened to a few minutes of it (quit right as the instructor started talking) and some credit also needs to go to the controller in the tower. And yes definitely the keeping her in the air longer got her to calm down. This young lady will be a great pilot one day.

How does a wheel falling off have anything to do with the skill of the pilot?

Kinda loud down there huh? I talked to a former coworker a few weeks ago, he asked if I was missing the business yet. I said, I dunno, when does the 'missing part' supposed to start??

It doesn't. He thinks it she had done a 'proper' pre-fight walk around inspection that she would have seen the wheel in a "compromised" position.
However I would think with her being a student she would already be in habit of not only doing a walk around but probably very detailed walk around.

Luckily it was an older model with mechanical gauges and there were two of us. Used a cell phone flash light to see the critical gauges.
