I’m not sure how you could remain anonymous after winning 1.6 billion.
There's no way.

You're obviously going to tell your friends and family. One of them is going to tell someone else and it'll just snowball.

We'll know how it's going to turn out based on if they remain anonymous. You'd think someone smart wouldn't blast their name.

Even with anonymity it will be very tough to conceal their identity for long. The cat will be out of the bag when the relatives find out or they start paying off mortgages and buying shite.

The best you can do is try to get all your ducks in a row before anybody finds out. Get yourself ensconced in a gated community and your kids in a private school before every grifter, criminal, and hard luck story in the western hemisphere beats a path to your door.

Yeah, you pretty much have to immediately move to a new city, even if you already live in a big city with lots of rich people.

Would you want the whole world to know you’re a billionaire?

You’d make yourself a huge target.

is every millionaire at risk of death daily? I think this remaining anonymous has been vastly overrated by people here.

Sure you’d have lots of leaches come forward hitting you up for cash, but that’s only an issue if you’re a pussy and have issues telling people no.

You certainly wouldn't want to do it and stay in your same area for reasons ranging from personal safety to con artists, pushy neighbors with sob stories, etc.

But if this person claimed and then immediately hopped a flight to Vail, he or she would probably be good to go.

plus all you have to do is release some PR statement saying you're donating most of it to charity or trusts and you won't control it or something. then go hide for a few months and people will forget you

I was thinking more of all the poors hitting you up for money. I mean they'd be able to figure out where you live, your phone number(s), etc. Who wants every broke dick or organization hitting you up for money?

and yeah I have no issue saying "no", but I just wouldn't want to have to deal with them to begin with.

But to your point, most billionaires have ample security, I'm sure. I wouldn't want to have that kind of notoriety without some form of security.

I'm sure Warren Buffet and Elon Musk have a full time staff fielding all the sob stories and get rich schemes, plus a security team watching out for malefactors.

That said, with lottery winners there's a different perception. Because it's a windfall, friends, family, and even strangers think they're entitled to something. This person could give every nickel of it away and someone will still be dissatisfied. His/her life is going to change in a lot of ways, not all of them good. I imagine there's going to be some alienation from some pretty important people in their life before this is over.

You'd have a whole new set of problems with all that money.

That being said, I'm willing to give it a shot.

There are people worth hundreds of millions here in Nola, one of the most dangerous cities in America, and they are fine. And it isnt exactly a secret where they live
