Harahan quickly caught the lost carjacker and escorted him to the hospital. 4 PM on a Saturday on Hickory. Teen victim he ran over is also in the hospital

That’s a damn strong statement by the Harahan PD. Damn strong and necessary.

I live in Harahan. Nice to see that it's spreading here.

Lol - if it was the Harahan PD of the nineties, he’d have a lot more charges than carjacking

Harahan PD also assured it's citizens that it would remain ever hyper-vigilant in ensuring no one travels 3.5 mph over posted speed limits throughout the city.

15 year old with a STOLEN gun... involved in car jacking and armed robbery.

But just imagine who would be in trouble if 15 yo had been shot by police.

Can a 15 y.o. even legally get a learner's permit to drive with an adult in the car?

What really pisses me off is the perpetrator doesn’t have a father figure. We want to automatically blame the kid for this but he has zero authority in his life. If I did anything perceived as wrong by my parents all hell would break lose. This kids life is ruined. For what? Because his parents were selfish.

You can trace it all back to LBJ.

Yes I agree it is 100% the parents fault. But there is another problem that needs to be discussed. The rise in crime/carjackings today is very simply a trade-off of policy for the last two years. Think of all the avenues that were shut off to this individual who may have been as young as 12 in 2020.

Closing schools
Shutting down youth sports
Shutting down after school programs
Closing gyms
Closure of recreation centers
Closing of parks, basketball courts, swimming pools, etc.
And now requiring proof of vaccination/masks to attend all of the above.

Maybe these examples (and others I may have forgotten) would’ve given this kid a 1% chance of not being a delinquent. Maybe not. But I guarantee deciding to not give these kids that chance by decree of Avegno leads directly to where we are now.

Simply paying the piper for decisions made in March 2020 and not adjusted because of hubris.

With the amount of money Harahan has from speed traps... they should have the best damn outfitted force in the country.

You know, it really is fricking sad. I’m in the hood damn near every day for work. I see all kinds of shite. These kids, they aren’t bad by nature. They are like almost all kids. Sponges. They soak up what’s around them. You throw a sponge amongst the grime and it sucks all that up. And if there isn’t a strong hand to wring out all the grime and put it to proper use, it just becomes a haven for rot and ruin.

Most of these kids don’t have a stable family unit. Don’t have a proper father in the home showing young men what men should do and how women should be treated. They have these mothers being the cum dumpsters of umpteen men, popping out babies without attached fathers in order to get a bigger check. They are aimless and don’t have the guidance and discipline it takes to make a well adjusted person.

Without parental involvement to back up any discipline or guidance they might receive in school, the school can’t make up for the deficit of character, and it becomes little more than a cesspool for the little sponges to soak up nothing but negatives.

The ones that try are ridiculed by those who don’t want to see others doing better than they are because it makes them feel inadequate. And so the cycle perpetuates and the rot spreads until there isn’t much hope at all. The cancer wins.

It all boils down to the destruction, the deliberate destruction, of the family unit and the place of the father as provider and protector.

LBJ.
