Times surely have changed.
We don't have terrible athletics. We play in one of the toughest divisions in the metro area.
And it's a relatively small town.
It's just the kids are taught to be nice and that words hurt, so everyone is basically on an even playing field.
A frickin tuba player took the cheer captain to prom for Christ sakes. Even 5 years ago, that was unthinkable outside of a movie.

This is what happens when a smart kid applies true science. Too bad in 5 years some university will be forcing him to falsify his data to appease a politician with power over grant money...smh

Yoga Girl will be here shortly to tell us that aliens told the Mayans to build their cities like that, and that this kid is one of the star children

You know she will tell us that these cities should be demolished as they represent the patriarchal and racists history of the South American Natives. Wait, but that would look racist.. but they were Patriarchal..

Her head might explode..

Don't be jealous of us, Nurse, it's unbecoming of you. Also, my travel-playing kid would think this is pretty cool, but he would still kick this kid's arse in the lunchroom.

I misunderstood the OP and thought he discovered the Mayan city in Canada.

It sounded that way to me too, but then I read the article and realized what they were saying.

When I was 15, I was a buffet prep-cook at Sicily's Pizza.
I drove a 1983 Chevy Cavalier with no A/C and I pissed and moaned at the thought of doing home work.

I'd say this kid is gonna do all right.

Are tons of scientists working on finding hidden ruins in the jungles? No. There's a lady researcher who takes multi spectral satellite data and locates 'hidden' sites all over the world, she's found 1000s. Guess what, no one gives a frick.

Sounds dangerous. I've been to the Yucatan and Iraq. I've seen Raiders of the Lost Ark.

I've been a lot of places in the woods that haven't seen people in 100 years, so I'm pretty sure someone knew about this huge fricking pyramid in the jungle. They just never spoke up. Not much of the earth hasn't been seen

Yeah, the term "discovered" is used rather loosely. I recall something from a book I read - I think it was related to Hiram Bingham's "discovery" of Machu Picchu. Basically, locals knew were the ruins were, they take him to the spot, and suddenly he's world-famous for "discovering" the place.

That is definitely not what I was using the internet to search for as a 15 year old. Hence the reason he discovered this, and these "scientists" are busy getting tang

When I was in HS a little longer than 5 years ago, a tuba player was dating a dance team member. They're still dating and she's a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader. Miracles do happen and these outliers have always existed.
