A massive min wage hike will result in unemployed poor people
And it will be low skill labor that can't easily find work elsewhere.
So imagine a world where every restaurant is a giant fast food chain and there is a permanent underclass that can't even find entry level work and a limited to the worst housing and communities.

I realize this is a highly politicized argument and a lot of people can't see it through any other lens, but the amount of posts in this thread pretending to be against raising the minimum wage because it will be bad for minimum wage employees is pretty laughable. Especially when the past few months have proven people would rather not work at all than make $9 an hour.
Just be honest and argue the inflation aspect or the burden all those new unemployed people will be on the rest of us and small businesses.

I had a minimum wage job, when I was in HS. I don't understand people who want to stay at that level. I have a Down's syndrome nephew who got tired of it. intellectually he is 10, he bought a power washer, his take home is the equivalent of $20 hr.
I worked in a field that dealt daily with the poorest people around, scrap pickers. I learned a lot of respect for the work they did and how hard they worked.
Minimum wage raises are false benefits, corporate wage costs generally don't get higher, they lower them by reducing their work force. Additional cost just raise the price of their products. Guess who buys the most fast food?

Right.
Paying unskilled and uneducated people more solves nothing. Until they are motivated to learn a trade or become further educated, they'll stay at the bottom of the food chain.
Some Western European countries tie training/education to unemployment payments.
People who are not motivated do not need to be given anything. They need more motivation.

More idiotic projection.
It is bad for min wage employees. Its not hard to tell the economically illiterate on this board.

Would "enhanced" UI benefits have anything to do with that?
Surely it couldn't.

Saw a sign at the local Taco Bell today that offered 20 bucks an hour for entry level positions

That is very unfortunate. It will be a matter of time till USA fast food is as automated as Japan's.

A minimum wage hike won't do shite to corporate America. Small business though? It will kill them.
Not that I expect a fricking idiot like you to comprehend second and third order thinking.

Considering the absolute shite service you get in fast food outside of CFA, one can only hope we can be as automated as Japan.

No. It would be bad for the people that lost their jobs. Wouldn't be bad for the ones that got a raise and kept their job.

No shite. Which defeats the purpose of minimum wage.
Would you rather your income be contingent on when the government raises the min wage, or would you rather have skills that could increase your income 10x?

A $15 minimum wage would not have much appreciable impact on most metropolitan areas. It would have a pretty significant impact in smaller towns, especially small businesses. Which is why it should be indexed to the coat of living.

It’s so sad to me that fast food joints are such a thriving business. People are frickin gross

Or eliminated. Putting us in the same group with Sweden, Iceland, Norway, Denmark, and Switzerland.

It’s touch screen, etc., not voice and voice recognition, ya dingbat.
I’ve used these many times and prefer them to human interaction for the most part.

The essential message here is that leftism is apparently a bigger handicap than mental retardation. Honestly, not shocking at all.
