14 YO Trashes Rental House - Parents on the Hook for 20K in Damages

quote:

After using her parents’ credit card to rent a house in which to throw a wild party, a Canadian 14-year-old is in major trouble — $20,000 worth, actually. That’s the amount of damage the teens caused, and which her parents must now pay. Last week, police responded to a call that reported an “uncontrolled party” at a neighborhood home in West Vancouver, where nearly 200 teens were seen “flooding out” once officials arrived, according to CTV News. Left in their wake was a house with much destruction — to walls, furniture, and artwork, all of which her parents will be held accountable for.

Why was I picturing the "Cash me outside" trashette while reading the article??

In some way, all the kids in attendance should pitch in to help pay.

Just because you were a guest and tore up some shite, you shouldn't be excused from responsibility.

The parents of course, not arguing that point. Just can't imagine owing 20 grand bc my brat kid pulled a stunt like this.

Also enjoyed this little nugget from the article:

quote:

“The first thing parents have to do is talk to their kids,” child and adolescent psychologist Barbara Greenberg tells Yahoo Lifestyle. “Approach it in a two-pronged way. Empathize with your kid and align yourself with them so that they know you’re on their side.”

Whats wrong with good old fashioned "pull a bullshite move like this and I'm beating your arse and selling you to the gypsies"

In HS, because I had a nice home, a single Dad who was always out of town, my house was the central spot for parties. In all those years of crazy parties I had one hole kicked in a wall and a couple of guns stolen and I know who did both and it was resolved. It's weird-everybody bought in to the premise , which was since we had this great place to have keg parties, let's take care of it. If you were a teenager in Baton Rouge from 1981-1984, I appreciate it. Good times.

One of my best friends had a similar situation. Single dad, son and daughter lived with him. But he was usually home.
Only rule he had was no drunk driving. God bless Lee. He let us have keg parties and all kinds of fun and never gave us a ration of shite for any of it. Good times.

I admit that I’m old and out of touch, but I see this posted here now and then and I don’t get it at all. Cash me outside? That doesn’t make any fricking sense.

LOL - I am embarrassed to know what this is actually, but I do nonetheless - she's a trashy 14 yo who attempted to say catch me outside; in a sonic way.

She parlayed this trash reality TV moment into some modicum of fame. Her and her "fame" are truly the low mark of western civilization - I hope.
