Let's be real here -- anyone who takes their CHILDREN to this event is beyond fricking dumb. I've always wondered why the hell parents would take children to this event in the first place. Just asking for some fricked up shite to happen.

I'm extremely confused how this rodeo is allowed each year. On top of rapes, from pictures on Google, it looks like people just laughing at inmates getting destroyed by bulls

1) It's a rodeo. In the prison
2) Inmates are allowed to sell their crafts at the rodeo. Some are world class carpenters. Some make crap. The inmates convicted of violent crimes ARE physically segregated from the public and make their deals from what looks like a cattle run.
3) The ones considered not to be dangerous are not separated from you at all. There are guards, but you just walk up to a table displaying whatever the inmate made and you haggle on the price across the table from each other. Then you take a slip of paper with the agreed upon price and go to a secure cage where a prison employee handles the actual transaction.
4) There is nothing stopping the prisoners from messing with the civilians other than the guards floating around, the risk of losing the rodeo, and the harsh retribution that comes with fricking up the rodeo. Some of these inmates have nobody on the outside, so the rodeo is their main source of income for the commissary.
5) The troublemakers don't get to go to the rodeo. They have standards of behavior through the year that can get them excluded from being able to attend.
6) Only a small number of prisoners get to see the rodeo. They sit in a giant caged area with armed guards in the arena. An even fewer number get the privilege of being in the rodeo. The majority of the inmates at the rodeo are just at the craft fair.

Angola doesn't have cells. It's a farm prison. They have dorms scattered all over the grounds where the prisoners live in barracks. Solitary/death row/etc. are different, but gen pop lives in those barracks. If they didn't move the guy, they definitely were going to find one morning that he committed suicide by cutting open his belly and hanging himself with his colon.

Most of the bad hombres are behind cages selling there wood work or paintings. Many others are operating like a farmers market of sorts. It’s pretty fun to talk to them. Some are great sales people, but every few dudes clearly have the social skills of a rock.
