13-year-old raped by inmate during Angola rodeo

ANGOLA – The state prison system went on the defensive Tuesday following a television report on WBRZ where sources said a 13-year-old girl had been raped during a recent Angola Rodeo.
The Investigative Unit received confirmation from sources who agreed to discuss the situation without being identified but official information from authorities was not provided. Numerous attempts to get information about an investigation were stymied by various agencies until the state prison system released a small comment on the matter late Tuesday – after the report was featured on the 6 o'clock news.
“There is an ongoing investigation into an alleged incident which may have occurred during the last weekend of the October 2017 rodeo,” state prison spokesperson Ken Pastorick said in an email. “The details of the alleged incident will not be released or discussed until the appropriate time.”
But, sources revealed to WBRZ earlier, the girl was raped in a bathroom on the Angola grounds. Laderrick Davis, an inmate serving a life sentence for murder is accused of the crime. Sources said Davis was caught leaving a bathroom with the child. The child was questioned and she admitted to having sex with Davis. A rape kit was administered.
Days later, Davis was transferred out of the State Penitentiary to Wade Correctional in Homer, an unusual move. Sources said such an abrupt move is not typical, and the state acknowledged late Tuesday that Davis' move was done “due to the seriousness and nature of the allegations” against him and “for his own protection.”
The comments Tuesday from the Department of Corrections – the state agency over Angola and other state prisons – was vague but yet the most information to be made available about allegations of a child's rape at Angola since the WBRZ Investigative Unit began looking into the story a week ago.
West Feliciana Parish Sheriff Austin Daniel confirmed an incident was under investigation, but would not elaborate. Other sources confirmed detectives are awaiting DNA evidence to back up the rape allegation.
This is the latest blemish on the Department of Corrections. LINK

i think that happens a lot at the rodeo
this is going to possibly end the event entirely
that guy is going to have to be in isolation b/c the inmates are going to frick him up

I’m sure it is for his own protection...
Rapists aren’t liked to begin with and you don’t frick with a golden goose like the rodeo.

I think it's only reasonable to let his fellow inmates handle this. His life sentence just turned into a street justice death penalty.

If he is truly guilty of this, they should just cut his penis off and let him bleed out in the prison yard.

Why the hell are inmates allowed to be around non inmates? You would think there would be some sort of segregation of the two groups.

I'm confused. How is a convicted murderer at a rodeo?

I haven't been to the rodeo, so was wondering the same thing when I read this story last night. They really just let inmates in prison for murder walk around with the general public? Also, if this is the case who takes their children, let alone lets them go off to the restroom by themselves.

I don’t know how you’re getting downvotes, the truth is our justice system needs to be harsher with the death penalty used 50x more than it is now. With so many issues why keep blights on society around or try to rehabilitate. We aren’t lacking people, especially shitty ones, I don’t get it

I've been and there are guys walking around and selling stuff at their craft tables. There are also tons of guys back behind fences who have their stuff displayed at the tables. Figured murderers would be the ones behind the fence.

Who brings a 13 year old girl to a rodeo held in a state pen? Nothing could go wrong there

really? i'd think the rodeo would be shut down at the first or second instance of this
