He had been in the ditch near Lake Blackshear for several days so the county got some heavy equipment and towed him out. Some South Georgia redneck idiot had shot him a couple of times and he was in bad shape so they euthanized him. Sad that a huge creature like that, one that has lived that long runs into a creep. Picture up on Fox news site. Magnificent.

Looks like he's kneeling on the gator, but he's not.

That's still a big arse alligator.

There are quite a few healthy ones in that area.

That ole baw will change his story as the years go by. In 30 years that alligator will be 1/2 ton and 20 feet long.

would have been okay to shoot it if he was going to make use of it and it was in season (I guess there is a season?)

Shooting it for the hell of it is scummy unless he was about to eat you or something. I don't know anything about them but I get the impression if you don't bother them they don't bother you.

Gator right in front of the camera. Kneel 20 feet behind it. Nice camera work.

frick that big lizard. He’s killed plenty in his lifetime . It was just his turn.

I have no use for gators. Kill em all. Then kill all the nutria they don’t eat.

ETA: I’m not in favor of wanton waste, but this gator is a cold blooded (apex) predator. I don’t see the need to lament his demise.

There was a 13.5 foot one that hung out in a pit on the way to the old ferry in St.Francisville. Had become somewhat of a tourist attraction and had been there since I was a kid.

Some loser went out and shot it with a crossbow a few times. We had to get WL&F out to euthanize it. Dumb redneck that shot it got a deferred sentence because his dad had connections.
