will guess what really happened is that no kid in the class had any idea what the patch was and the teacher was disruptive to the classroom environment because they didn't like it.

The teacher was so proud of herself for removing that “alt-right” symbol from her classroom but started crawfishing when she was called out on her bullshite.

According to the staffer at the Colorado charter school, the patch was "disruptive to the classroom environment," as she claimed it has "origins with slavery."

A teacher that ignorant of history should be fired for suffering debilitating brain washing.

Hopefully she doesn't teach history.

all I said was wearing it to school as a 12 year old is a little weird.

It was a small patch on a backpack. Lots of people get all kinds of random patches on their backpacks.

Nothing remotely weird about it.

Surprised the St Michael patch wasn't an issue.

I 100% support that the kid should be allowed to have that patch without being harassed by the school/state.

As an aside, in my area in Alabama, it is also 100% unusual for kids to have backpacks with patches on their backpacks as depicted in the picture. Maybe that’s typical in other places and I’m just ignorant.

I support this kid’s right to be weird though.

I have a t-shirt with that Franklin political cartoon on it. I wear it to school occasionally, especially early in the year when we’re studying the colonial period and the Revolutionary War. I wish someone would say something about it regarding “origins in slavery.”

I have the same shirt (from Liberty Maniacs). I did have a leftist teacher I know comment on it, though it was positive as she categorized me as a history nerd

Dumb move. Lawsuit incoming and the school will lose.

Tinker should be mandatory reading for all school admins.

Teach sure does use a lot of Sabanesque gestures with her hands and arms. Frankly, the mom and kid made her look like a fool.

Would you think he was weird if he had a Marine Corps patch? The Gadsen flag was the first flag used by what would become the United States Marines.

Agreed.

Last week a school in Virginia banned a high school student for having an American flag in his pick-up truck.

This week a school labels the Gadsden flag a symbol of hate and suspends a student for wearing it.

There is a disturbing pattern here and it seems to be directed against conservatives students.

Tell us what’s “weird” about the Gadsden flag or being patriotic. You’ve called this weird several times in this thread and I’d like to know what makes that flag or this kid’s patriotism weird to you.

Teacher should be fired on the grounds that she is too stupid and ignorant of history and facts that she cannot teach.

How many 12 year old's do you know with a backpack like that?

ETA: That backpack belongs to a 35 year old combat vet who's using his GI Bill and drinking 2 Monsters before 8am at his local college

I already said it wasn’t weird.

I haven’t called either weird.

A 12 year old wearing that back pack is weird. 100%. It is unusual and not ordinary, i.e. weird, for a 12 year old to wear that. This isn’t a controversial opinion. You aren’t going to lose any internet cultural war points for acknowledging it’s unusual for 12 year olds to have all of that on their backpacks, including the Gadsden flag.
