Wonder how many museum pieces the show buys just to put in the hands of the patrons.

lol, that show is fake as hell.
The first couple of episodes should of told you that.
Collectors don't sell at pawn shops, but those who want to be on tv and make a fake transaction do.

If you watch the show, its a prototype that was never released to the public. What I didnt catch was how the guy wanting to sell got it in the first place.

Ive always wondered aboutt this. A Pawn shop is going to give you a shitty price. If you had a real collectible, you would sell it on ebay. if it was a super high dollar collectible, you'd go to an auction house.

The idea of the show is that this is in Vegas, and these people need the cash fast so they are willing to accept less money. But yeah, the show is super fake. From what I have heard they just get people with interesting items to come in for the show.

It is a bunch of b.s.....
Buddy of mine owns a pawn shop... History Channel approached them about making a show, but they turned it down...
He said most of that stuff is actually brought in for the show, but some is legit.... I mean, how many people bring revolutionary war documents to a pawn shop everyday...
He also said the show that is closest to being real is Hardcore Pawn...

"Well, you heard what he said - that's what I'll take then."
Next best is in the pre-sale interview when they say "I'm not taking less than $500" then leave the store with $100 in their pocket.

They have some repeat sellers, so some of it is probably guys who just want to advertise their stuff or need quick cash instead of going through auctions.
One time they had Jesse come into appraise this bad arse guitar, so I did a little e-research to see if it ever sold and it turns out the guitar had been for sale in Jesse's shop for a while already by the time he was called in to appraise it for the fake transaction on the show.
I think they must also use some low level actors now and then, because I recognized and adult actor one time who brought in a franken-van.

Toy expert came in and appraised it at 100,000 fricking dollars
But in reality, its worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Was anyone willing to pay $100k for it?
