No. Just joined a thread late. Read the first page. Made a comment based on the first page and the title of a 10 page thread saying dodgeball.

I know, just messing with you.

I remember playing dodge ball as a child in PE class. We always aimed for the head and always threw as hard as we could.

We always aimed for the face, and nuts.

You're a sad little person. Next time you try to sensationalize a topic don't throw a bitch fit when you get called out for it.

Your mommy blog sucks.

The boys were all outside playing a game at recess. This game is a game that the boys call "Tips" (how do they come up with these names? I swear...). In this game, the group of players stands in a circle and throws a ball up in the air to each other while they jump in the air. A couple of rules-- In order to catch the ball you have to be jumping, and if the players break the circle, the game is over. This game, if you ask me, sounds very exhausting. No thanks.

When the circle was broken (for those of you keeping score at home, that means the game was over) and everyone was chasing the rogue ball, Boy #2, I guess, did not cope with the loss (?) well. Boy #2 proceeded to stand less than a couple feet from Boy #1 and throw the ball they were all playing with directly at Boy #1’s face so hard that it made the recess attendants cringe. After the incident, Boy #2 said, “That’s what you get!” and walked away from Boy #1, leaving him in tears.

well if this is true then it certainly changes things

No it doesn't. 10 year old kids by and large don't understand the difference between actual injuries and scrapes and bruises, and they don't understand the mechanisms that cause injuries, and they sure as hell don't know about some mysterious pre-existing condition in their friend that's nobody's business according to his mom.

And a 10 year old with a dodge-ball type ball in his hand and a kid who apparently caused a loss in a game in front of him is only ever going to do one thing, and this kid did it.

And I really would bet $5 that mom #1 is prominent in the mommy blog community.

When I went to LSU and sat in the student section I would absolutely agree with you. Now that I am 47 and have been sitting in the south for 25 years, I have to disagree.

Yeah man. The only possible reaction to losing a game is to throw the ball into the other kids face so hard you cause a concussion.

What a logical conclusion that is.

"In a final attempt, Mom #1 agrees to let the Principal disclose her son’s rare medical condition to Mom #2 to try to explain the severity of Boy #2’s actions. Mom #2 does nothing."

Mom #2 is adult enough to know the significance of the injury and should have controlled her child.

Uh........... not in dodgeball dude.

Full strength. Aim for the head or balls.

If you threw anything at someones head that was 4-5 feet away you were a punk. Kids that did this were the lower income dirty kids that never played organized sports, but if they did they washed out, when I was in school in the 70s, the competitive athletic kids never did that kind of stupid shite.

quote:

No. It’s the kid who got hits fault for playing a game that the object is to hit someone else with a ball.

Given it has been established that this was not the game they were playing, and given that the game that they were playing, which was not dodgeball, was over.....and the poor sport kid with a lack of discipline (just like 40 years ago) got pissed off and couldn't control his emotions and decided to hit the boy has nothing to do with his medical condition or otherwise.

If you get drunk and drive and kill someone that had the same condition as the kid you dont get off the hook.

I have a 10 year old. He fully understands he is stronger than most any kid his age, he has been taught, he hit a kid too hard in dodgeball the other day and stopped the game and checked on him at the jumpy place. This kid was hit from like 20 feet and was hit with a foam ball. But the kid acted as if he was hurt and my boy felt bad. He would never do that dumb shite on purpose.

He completely understands that you dont throw any ball at all at someones face purposefully. Period.

Exactly.

These kids should have years of conflict resolution under their belts by now.
