Have a dry slot headed for Wichita Falls --- may not be as robust as anticipated, which is fine by me but still enough to lock down most things

It's picking up here now. Hope it runs out of steam before it gets there.

Pissing down rain in Marksville with a couple rumbles of thunder.

DFW checking in. This is one of the weirdest "storms" I've experienced. There's been very little wind and the rain has hardly been heavier than a drizzle. From behind a screen I can hardly tell anything's falling. Yet every time I look at the ground it's a little bit whiter.
Power's fine at the moment but I have about a half cord ready to go if needed.

We're riding the freezing rain/sleet line at the moment.

We're up to 36°, the warmest it has been all day, now with a brief break between rain showers.

Just outside of Little Rock
Been getting an extremely fine sleet/snow the last couple hours, enough to white out street lights but barely noticeable as far as individual flakes. You definitely notice when that wind blows and you're facing into it though. Coming down in enough volume to pile up on surfaces cleaned off after our heavy snow last night.
Just took the dogs out to play fetch for a while, and it's much deeper here than I thought (TWSS). We have every bit of 6 inches on the ground and more falling constantly. It's also the most powdery snow I've ever experienced, it doesn't pack under your footsteps and is like walking/running around in fine sand. If one of the dogs missed catching the tennis ball it would hit the snow and *PFFF* disappear like flour.
I have two long-haired German Shepherds and they absolutely love this shite, they have their entire lives. They're miserable in the heat during the summer in Florida, which is why I went to great lengths to bring them (and my wife and son) up here for this. I was gonna have to be up here to take care of our house in the extreme cold anyway, but I'm very glad I have them or I'd already be going stir crazy.
It always amazes me how the dogs are completely unfazed by snow and cold temps. Out there with bare feet in the snow, and bare noses and ears with ice forming on them doesn't bother them one bit. It's so cold the condensation is floating around in those beautiful ice crystals and the top layer of my drink is freezing between sips every few minutes, but they're unbothered by ice forming in their face and ear fur.
TLDR - the ramblings of a guy that's already bored

That sounds wonderful to me.
You need a stronger drink.

Is the airport in Atlanta going to shut down or what?

quote:Exactly. I can't tell if it's sleet, freezing rain, or wintry mix. I'm not even sure I even understand the difference between those things anymore.

Pretty heavy precipitation right now.
Weather app and accuweather say it's snowing in my zip code but this is too loud when it hits the ground to be snow I think.

My last report for the night. Snowing here, but not a lot of accumulation yet, maybe 2 inches. Forecast still says 8-12 overnight. Wet snow too.

I hate that sound. Fortunately we got our trees trimmed in December so we shouldn't have any issues with the house. Parents and brother both have those massive pine trees in their yards that come down like razorblades in Shreveport.
