Call my nerves that they won’t run into icy road conditions through Chattanooga and Birmingham.
Follow the TDOT drive info. LINK
It also shows where things are getting iffy to the south and west
When they have to stop, and they will, they should choose a motel with a restaurant nearby.

Voice of experience of three days in Winchester VA where the motels' patrons ate the Local restaurant (the IHOP) until there was no food left, and the Cracker Barrel nearby opened the next morning to fill the void.

Just had to run to the grocery store in Ruston, LA. We’re getting pretty heavy sleet but not totally frozen. Roads are another story. I had multiple slippery moments on the way to the store and back home. In about another hour we’ll be completely socked in.

Cantore is in New York talking with the Mayor acting like a drama queen. I get it, it's cold in NYC but not in southeast Louisiana.
The funny thing is, he is all bundled up with a silly hat and winter coat (they're inside) and the mayor is in a light business suit.
Now, if I could just get control of the TV remote, without fighting with the wife, I'll be fine.

Very light freezing rain with some sleet mixed in here in north AL. Not hearing much traffic at all.
You have any takeaways from what we have seen so far that might suggest we aren't all gonna die? remember I'm to your west a good but in a worse place as far as the forecast. We are right on the northeast end of the worst of the freezing rain accumulation

I got around 3-4” from round 1 (they said would be 6). Now round 2 is starting sometime today and they say will last into mid day Sun for another 6. Would give us 9 total which is still a lot when our annual avg is 9. But nothing like the 12-15 one station predicted. The cold is worse than the snow. Had low of 7 and saying high of 13 today. Low of 3 tonight and high of 17 Sun with low of 2 on Mon morning.

I'm not the best to ask about this one, I haven't paid much attention to the details outside of my area. I know we are forecast to warm up throughout tonight, into the low 40s. If that does happen it should help with any freezing rain accumulation.

Checking in from north Monroe. Precipitation started heavily falling about an hour ago. Looks to be mostly sleet vs frozen rain if I'm not mistaken, and it's accumulating.
I haven't had time to catch up on the thread...This should be a good sign, correct? Should we still be expecting large amounts of freezing rain ? Trying to remain hopeful lol

It has warmed up to 10 degrees here in far NW Arkansas. I estimate about 5' of snow so for. It is not snowing now, but more is forecast to come in this afternoon.

TWC was playing their “Why Planes Crash” series last night. Told me all I needed to know about this hyped up nothingburger.

We only have had 3" here on our guage and we are near Pineville on the west side.

Thankfully, nothing but sleet in S’port. Steady sleet for six hours or so.

Some people never learn. I think they like risking injury and property damage.
