Why does this heater look like it plugs into the wall?

Because it does?
I have a generator in case we lose power though. That's what the starting fluid is for. My generator can be stubborn unless it's been cranked in the last day or so. I plan on making sure it will fire up after work tonight.

You're gonna run a gas generator to power an electric space heater instead of getting a gas heater? Or just using the fireplace?

This one is very interesting.
Plus Im less butthurt now that Im going to see 4-8" off this system up here (our snowpack is meager to say the least)

I'm going to run a gas generator to power my tv, internet and a few lamps. It will also run a micro wave or my electric stove.
As long as it's running, why not plug a space heater or 2 into it?

I've got a fireplace too.

TIME OUT. The game is changing quickly, and we need a huddle.
This is a very complicated setup. We’ve got continent-sized weather influences fighting it out between the Arctic blast and the southern branch of the jet stream, and while 75 miles feels like a long distance to us, it’s a tiny "margin of error" for an atmosphere that wraps around the entire globe.
That's it - a 75 mile shift in the warm front position from yesterday's projection to what we see today (both looking ahead to Saturday).
Even the "Golden Boy" (the European model) has reminded us this week that it’s just a model, not a crystal ball.
The Bottom Line: The ingredients for a severe winter storm are still on the map, but they’ve shifted some. The surface low is trending further inland. If this holds, Jefferson and Shelby counties could see the 50s this weekend while the Shoals stays in the 30s.
That shift is the difference between a major ice storm and just a cold rain.
What now? We’re watching for any signs of a southward correction. We’re prepared if it shifts back, but if the current trend holds, it's great news for our power grid and everything else. For now, don't cancel any early next-week plans yet. Let’s see how Thursday and Friday's data shakes out and THEN start looking at that.
For now, the going forecast accounts for the uncertainty pictured here, but as time goes by, this gets clearer, and the forecast will be narrowed down.

There was talk of a decent amount of ice here in Charleston but it's looking like temps will be in the 40s, so will likely just be gross miserable few days but no armageddon ice storm.

Can someone tell me what to expect in BR and south of BR, or tell me where to find it?

I know, right?
This thread sucks compared to our very very excellent hurricane threads.

No one knows for sure. This is Fox8's current forecast, however that rain/ice line will shift as the event nears. Stay tuned.
