It was a hurricane.

Flooding isn't their only mode of wrecking shite.

There's just a lot more homes in Orleans. That tips the scales quite a bit.

Maybe measure percent of homes in Livingston, EBR, Ascension vs. Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard or coastal Mississippi.

I'm from a town outside BR born and raised that flooded, and I have no issue hearing it called the "BR flood." People looking to be offended

The people in Baton Rouge weren't living in a bowl.

True, but the OP specifically asked for "flooded homes"

Katrina and it's not even close. New Orleans is several times more populated then Denham or Youngsville. I'm surprised this is even in question.

Good point.

At any rate, Katrina is NOLA's worst natural disaster and this is the worst for metro Baton Rouge. Without a doubt and not even close.

No way no how

Katrina was a much smaller area

Katrina flooded 100+ homes in Florida before it entered the Gulf.

A 10 year old girl died in flooding caused by Katrina in Kentucky.

quote:

Severe local flooding occurred in Quebec, forcing the evacuations of dozens of homes in some communities as rivers began overflowing their banks and sewage systems were becoming overwhelmed by the influx of precipitation. Inundated and washed out roads, including Route 138 along the north shore of the Saint Lawrence River, Route 172 north of Tadoussac, and Route 385 near Forestville left several communities isolated for at least a week

Think about all the Mississippi homes that were flooded too.

Flooded. Most of them were gone. There was no need to remove wet drywall or carpet. All that was left was a slab.

The 2 disasters really shouldn't be compared. This thread will turn into a pissing match before long though.
