Archie Manning is 2nd best all-time Saints QB, and it's not particularly close.

Saints All-Pro and Pro Bowlers

I see Archie made two Pro Bowls and was also voted NFC Offensive Player of the year in 1978.

Neither A-a-ron Brooks or Bobby Hebert made a Pro Bowl as a Saint.

Archie Manning should be at the top of the list. If we’re including prime years even not with the saints you have to put Stabler up there

Jim Everett. He was a pretty good QB.

Am I high or do I remember Buddy D calling him Chris Everett?

If our best qbs went to play their best years under Belichek who would perform best. I think:
Brees
Manning
Hebert
Brooks

That’s idiotic. Hebert is unquestionably our second best QB. I really don’t know how people can say it was Archie. I’ve said for years the only huge TD any Manning ever threw for the Saints was Payton to Tracy Porter.

Now of course if you’re talking about what Saints QB was the best when he played for another team (which seems pretty stupid) then it has to be Kenny Stabler. The guy was a fricking surgeon and cool as they come.

I don't think people understood the OP.

The correct answer is:

1. Brees
2. Archie
3. Brunell
4. Stabler
5. Delhomme

Archie because of the talent he had vs the talent around him. Then Jim Everitt. Dude could sling the ball.

I didn’t see John Fourcade mentioned either.

2. Archie
3. Hebert
4. Stabler

Archie is an obvious choice. He was
a tremendous athlete on a crappy team.

If you could have any QB not named Brees that ever wore a Saints uniform back for this season at the height of their ability in the NFL who would it beif we're talking just at the height of their abilities, I have to go with Brooks. He was insanely good at first. A lot like what you currently see Daniels doing at LSU now.

A lot depends on what you "need".

Archie gets love, but the fact is he had great skill players and couldn't win. Galbreath, Muncie and Chandler were All Pros.

Hebert wasn't that physically gifted, but he was a winner. He was a winner in the USFL when he faced Kelly, Young, Flutie etc; he came to the Saints and kept winning. I think he just had "presence"; I know he had the benefit of a great D (best in team history), but he won a lot more than you'd expect.

If you mean a long-term replacement for several years, I'd take peak Hebert for 5 yrs. We'd lose in the playoffs, but we'd be in them every year.

Due to the passage of time, the awful Saints teams of the 70s, and rules/scheme changes that favor passing games since then, I guess it's just difficult for many to understand how good Archie was.

"Manning was the UPI NFC Player of the Year in 1978. He was a Pro Bowl player in 1978 and 1979. He was named first-team All NFC in 1978 and 1979."

Roger Staubach was in the NFC in 1978 and 1979 and led his team to the Superbowl after teh 1978 season, yet it was Archie who was first team all-NFC. After Brees, no Saints QB ever had seasons in which he was even arguably the best QB in the NFC, while Archie did. Archie is a clear number two, and I would go with Bobby Hebert third because he was good for longer than Brooks. As for Delhomme, oh what could have been ...

Yah I forgot about Everett, I'd probably put him in at my number 5 instead of Delhomme.

Stabler
Everett
Brooks
Hebert
Delhomme
Carr

Not much separates those guys above to be honest, but I'm pretty emphatic that the top 3 is:

BREES
MANNING
BRUNELL

A lot of people don't remember how good a young Brunell was in Jacksonville. Probably because he was in Jacksonville.

archie was the johnny manzel of his day (i mean the college version only, not the bum NFL version)

plays broke down and he was running for his life, staying out of trouble just making things happen, and it often turned out ok.

if archie from back then played today he would be right up there with brady, brees, and maholmes in the top 5 QB of all time

a) you've lost your mind
b) Teams make playoffs - not individuals
c) putting AB above Archie and Bobby shows how dumb you are
