Belichick sucks without Brady.

Yeah I can definitely see the Rams being a surprise opening. It’s not exactly a secret he’s considered it the last few years

I will say I think Stefanski could be a good hire for someone if he gets fired, which seems very likely at this point. I think he’s a good coach who is in a nightmare of a situation that he doesn’t have much control over. Not sure he’d be right for NO or would want it

There’s always the college coaches who are over the modern landscape or running from something. Not a huge Ryan Day fan. Sark seems pretty locked in at UT. James Franklin? Pass.

Yea i’ve been kinda a fan of his. But going from Cleveland to NO isn’t much of an upgrade in terms of dysfunction and organizational chaos given the cap situation and how things are run upstairs.

Vrabel. We need an alpha dog.

Obviously you can maybe keep Kubiak if we get Vrabel, or start churning Shanahan or McVay disciples likes everyone else does at OC.

The issue is IDK if Vrabel wants to come to our cap hell, especially since he'll likely have choices in the carousel this offseason.

Well. If the Eagles and Bills make their conference championship games, they won’t fire their coaches. And if that’s the case, idk how we wouldn’t have as good of a chance at Vrabel as the Giants, Jaguars, Browns, etc.

Maybe he takes the Giants job over us but we’ve also shown more patience with our coaches than the vast majority of the league. We gave Payton 3 shitty years before he turned it around in 2017. We have now given DA 3 years. And if we know we’re going into a rebuild, they’ll likely give Vrabel or whatever coach they hire at least 4 years. That type of leash and job security is attractive to coaches. We’ll also likely have a top 5 pick for this year and next year, giving that coach a chance to help shape the roster to what he wants, infuse the roster with younger, cheaper talent, etc. Obviously he would prefer a job like Dallas, Philly or Buffalo but idk if Jerry would hire him over Johnson or Belichick and idk if the other two would even fire their coaches.

I have reservations about Vrabel. The Offense he wanted was way too conservative for my liking

He had Arthur Smith as their OC and they traded fricking AJ Brown. He wasn’t exactly done any favors. I’d be ecstatic if we got any 1 of Johnson, Vrabel or Slowik.

If you miss on those 3, you’ll be looking at unproven guys like Zac Robinson and fricking Aaron Glenn. Loomis’s dumbass would probably hire Glenn because of his ties to Payton/Campbell and think it’s a home run. (It’s not.)

This is what I am anticipating.

Actually, it wouldn’t be the worst hire because it almost assures you of another 2-3 seasons of sucking arse and compiling top picks to overhaul the roster, draft a QB high and allows you another chance at a top offensive mind in 2-3 years.

I’d rather that not happen, but it might be for the best in order for there to be some shakeup in the front office, which might be needed as much as the coach and roster

Liam Coen, OC Bucs - Another McVay disciple, doing a great job this year in Tampa

This guy is growing on me, though. If you miss on Slowik and Vrabel, he might be the next best choice. He had Kentucky scoring some points in 2023. Had two different stints with McVay and that’s what you want. And now he’s got the Bucs offense looking like it’s a top 10 unit.

There would be worse hires. And if you give him 4 years and hit on some draft picks for once, I could see a future there

didn't Vrabel clash with the GM? You can probably scratch him off the list.

Let's look to candidates that have a connection to the Payton era and as Mickey and co. scramble to try and bring the magic back with lesser components from that era:

Detroit DC- Detroit D isn't good you say? Yeah doesn't matter, he has ties here.

Coaching a successful D under Sean...check
Already massively flopped as a HC....check
Mickey doesn't need to hear anymore, he's in.

I think vrabel got canned because he wasn't on bored with Will Levis.

I mean I've seen guys get fired for way worse reasons

We’re 100% bringing in Glenn and we’ll fire him after his second season. We’re multiple rebuild years away anyway. Plus, if Loomis hires Glenn, he’s done as GM if it fails. Or at the very least only has one more chance before Gayle has to remove him and put him higher in the organization and name someone else GM

How old will Gayle be by that point? 80?

Do we honestly think she’s going to do literally ANYTHING that L and L don’t tell her to do?

She’s an old woman. She likes to take pictures and hug people and donate money. She doesn’t have the slightest fricking clue how to structure and hire an NFL front office.

Their offense isn't super impressive to me schematically. They have great personnel. I'm not convinced he would be a great HC.

She might be old but she’ll see the team has become the laughing stock of the NFL again and try to do something.

Or maybe she’ll just die and we’ll get sold to someone who gives a shite

Yeah I kind of lean towards this BUT the work he did with Stroud can’t be ignored. He did help mold him. But I think I might prefer Coen to him. Coen was under McVay and is doing extremely well in Tampa. He also had Kentucky averaging 30 points per game last year as their OC. There’s a proven track record there now with having successful offenses and playcalling. And we know everyone wants a McVay/Shanahan disciple
