I'd also go with Porter INT in SB. Ground shook!
All these posts and no mention of the Dempsey boot?

someone mentioned it. That team finished 2-11-1. There was nothing important about that other than the record

Uh, Hartley misses that field goal and 2 of those 4 never happen.

And as great as a 40 yard kick it was... I think the porter pick, especially getting the ball back to save the game, is much more stunning and rare. Hartley should make that kick 80% of the time. Getting that turnover is far more uncommon and game changing.

#1 is Tracy Porter's pick six in the Super Bowl. #2 is Hartley's kick to get us to the Super Bowl. Gleason could be #3. Other contenders are Hakeem drops the ball, John Gilliam's kick return and Dempsey's kick. We all know what the biggest negative play was. I was there for all of them.

Hartley’s FG is the most emotional I’ve ever gotten watching football. That is tops for me.

DEMPSEY IS THERE!

There are more great plays that were before your 25 years.

The biggest? No, I’d probably go with Porters int of Manning or Favre. The most meaningful? Would be Gleasons blocked punt. That changed the entire city.

Lol no, T Porter easy

Not a laughable statement and no not easy. Yes the Porter INT is the biggest due to it winning the SB, but to discredit just how important the punt block was for us as a team, city and community is dumb. Laughing at a legit sentiment is dumb.

It is clearly the second biggest play in history because of how beat up we were and how it is the symbol of how we would never be broken.

My BIL pointed out while watching the 2006 replay vs ATL last night, if we scoop up Vick’s fumble with 2 hands we score and the block punt never happens.

My Big Play Rankings would be:
1. Porter interception to seal Super Bowl
2. Hartley FG to win NFC
3. Porter interception in NFC championship
4. Gleason blocks punt
5. Hakim drops the ball
6. Ambush onside kick

That said, it might not be the "biggest" play in Saints history, but it is the most iconic.

The kick to send us to the Super Bowl was the greatest O.M.F.G. moment I've ever had as a Saints fan.

My entire neighbor in P'cola heard "OMFG we're going to the Super Bowl!" all drunkin night long

It's not even the biggest punt in Saints history. That would be when Hakim dropped the ball.

From a symbolic standpoint, it may be the 1st or 2nd most memorable, though.

Can't argue with any of the '09 submissions, but the first thing i thought of when reading the OP's question was Jim Henderson yelling, "Hakim drops the ball, Hakin dropped the ball!"

We beat the fricking Rams man.

The punt block didn’t even happen in the same season as the SB, and moments in that season (especially in the playoffs) have to be considered bigger.

The biggest moments by far were the ones that helped us beat the Vikings and the Colts.

So while the blocked punt is up there with things like Dempsey's kick, the opening kickoff in our first game ever being brought back for a TD, and Hakeem drops the ball, it is behind the magically moments from the SB season.

we all know the biggest of the big... those plays that helped us win the Super Bowl... and those plays that showed the Saints had arrived to the top of the NFL pantheon

but let me throw an old school wild card at you

It's 1987... the Saints have never had a winning season in franchise history... in fact had only been the laughing stock of the NFL

And then this goal line stand in Pittsburgh turned the Saints into a "winning" team for the 1st time ever (YouTube link)

ETA: this win over Pittsburgh moved the Saints to 8-3 on the season and was the 5th of 9 straight wins by the Saints to close out the regular season (damn Vikings who barely scrape into the playoffs and somehow beat us in the Superdome in the Wild Card round... deja vu in 2019)

that season only had 15 games thanks to the players strike... which cancelled a home game vs. the Falcons

ETA2: in fact... it was in week 5 of the 1987 season that a replacement, "scrub" quarterback by the name of Sean Payton of the Chicago Bears threw an interception to close out a 19-17 Saints win in Chicago

Favre throwing a stupid int while in field goal range with 19 seconds left was the biggest play in Saints History.
