This is most likely going to be a choice the team has to make this offseason. It’s a really tough choice to make but I think the franchise will end up keeping Marcus Williams. He’s one of the best safeties in the league and he’s still really young.

If I only get one, I take Williams. He's younger and less injury prone, and we have options at Tackle to replace Armstead.

Williams is 25! Not even in his athletic prime yet.

You have to go with Williams. Armstead will require big money and is getting older.

looks like theyve already decided by signing ramczyk to a LT contract. tried to extend williams but he turned it down.

MW is a young and elite level S, at a position where players can play a few years longer than say CB. TA is great but getting up in age, has dealt with injuries, and could fall off any year now. I’d go with MW

I love Armstead but man we just cannot rely on him to stay healthy. He has yet to play a full season in his career.

The smart choice is M. Williams, but I hate saying it cause Armstead has been so great for so long. Quiet guy who comes to work. And even though he is injury prone, he plays through a lot of pain. Im gonna miss him.

M.Williams has developed into a top free safety in the NFL.

spotrac has armstead projected to get 24 mill annually. We already have dead monies spread out on him the next 3 years. He'll be 31 next year.

Wow, how did that happen? The older I get, the faster time elapses.

of course this is not a zero sum and simply a hypothetical situation, but one that separates good teams from top teams.

MW is young, very good, and still improving. TA is a guy that has a history of injuries, but also a proven asset when healthy.

i would trade TA for draft pick(s), and sign MW.

FTR this is a great problem to have. this means you have drafted very well and have talent on the roster!

We can probably get by fine with CJGJ or Adebo at FS.

Keep your all world LT. he’s the better player

If I had to only keep one it would be Williams. LTs are hard to find, but the Saints seem to find Offensive linemen in the line at Walmart. We have struggled with getting DBs into the fold, and Williams is a very good Safety.

With that said, we have Lewmiz. We are keeping both and adding Rodgers and Russel Wilson as back ups to Winston.

Williams/Lattimore Duo is what keeps our secondary elite, even when we are plugging and playing the other pieces. I don't think Saints fans realize how truly elite Williams is for a FS.

Unless Armstead comes back with a cap friendly number, I would roll with Hurst and the emerging Williams. I hate to have another Jenkins situation, where we let our homegrown talent flourish on another team.

Williams. He just turned 25 and is arguably the best FS in the league in terms of playing center field and covering ground. He’s just entering his prime and is a better player than Armstead at this point in their respective careers.

Would like to keep both but probably can't with cap situation but seems like they have a plan for not having Armstead with drafting Young to play right tackle and with Rams contract language escalators based on moving to left tackle at some point also Williams is younger at a position of real need in secondary.

This cannot be stated more often. While the Saints have quality players and depth in the secondary, they have struggled to consistently draft secondary players. However, they have proven extremely successful in drafting quality linemen. That would be a major consideration if they had to choose between the 2. My guess is, they would be able to be creative to extend both. OTC currently has them at $54M under the cap, ML can sign an All-Pro team with that much to play with
