Dalton is definitely a known quantity, but you're never going to get anything better than what he is right now and I'm not so sure he'd beat out Taysom Hill for the starting spot...

Honestly yeah I wanna give him a shot with a solid team around him. He never had a good o line or RB in Tampa.

People like to bring up the ints he threw there but what O Line or RB did he have while he was there? Exactly. If he can run Payton’s offense give him a shot.

Jameis has all the physical ability and even has a high football IQ. The problem is he is batshit insane. I don't see him as a viable option honestly.

I sure would like to be batshit insane with a career earnings over 45 million with an opportunity to sign with a super bowl contender after learning the offense and the team for a year while watching Drew frickING BREES run the show.

My first choice would be Stafford, but the only way I think to sign him is to leverage your future for several years.

Stafford is probably looking at a 4 year deal with 75% of that guaranteed. For the Saints to be a player they will probably have to offer a 5 or even a 6 year deal with 75 to 80% guaranteed.

My second choice would be to Roll with Taysom in 2021. Point being is this either it will work or fail. If it works to make the playoffs in 2021 then it is something to build on for 2022. If it doesn't then maybe it will fail and fail enough to select near the Top 10. It it does then we take a QB.

I'm willing to. Unless there is a QB in the draft that Payton loves and is able to move up to get then I don't see a better option. He has talent and experience in the system. Let's see if he's learned anything. If not then maybe he's terrible enough the get us a QB in the following draft.

There are plenty of examples of players not playing so great early in their career and then turning out to be all time greats AKA Steve Young and Peyton Manning etc.

Steve Young payed for the Bucs for one season.
Peyton was MVP in his 5th season.

Jameis Winston got into a bunch of trouble at FSU and allegedly groped an Uber driver in 2016.

So what the frick are you talking about?

frick it. We broke, lets roll.

That's the spirit

But as many have pointed out he's cheap and has tools. Anyone thinking there's a good alternative besides Jameis is dreaming. Unless there is a QB that the Saints want in the draft.

Why? He's a one trick pony at QB. Winston can actually go through his progressions and not look to run first. Payton can only mask Hills deficiencies for so long. A few games sure but not a whole season. Keep Taysom in his Swiss Army role with Winston as the starter. Defenses will be screwed because Winston can launch it over the top.
