TB's job was to be ready to go. He wasn't. Hill is a gimmick, otherwise judging from preseason, he would have been #2. Backup QB's don't lineup at WR or run over LB's/DB'S in short yardage.

Teddy is going to be the guy, but I do think there will be a heavy amount of Taysom packages used. The best thing the Saints can do is a bunch of weird stuff people aren't prepared for. The Ravens essentially changed their offense halfway through the year last year, and it worked. Teams were baffled. A heavy dose of Taysom could maybe do something similar.

I think you have to give teddy a full week of practice and the coaches time to gameplan with him. If he falters this week you have to start getting hill more involved.

Yup.

You give him the next two weeks with full game plan and practice, with a little bit of Taysom thrown in.

If he doesn't get it done, and is still indecisive, you have to roll with the Taysom show.

He’s a former starring QB that made the pro bowl, who has been with the team for 2 years and been practicing for 7/8 weeks, and playing a ton in preseason. He’s not gonna cut it, but neither will TH. Expect trade news in the next day or 2

Neither Hill or Bridgewater are the answer. Saints have been gambling for years without a viable backup, or drafting a future QB, and it just bit them in the arse
How many teams have a viable backup?

Payton thinks Hill is comparable to Steve Young, apparently. Last I checked, Young was better than Bridgewater, soooooooo, yea.

And y’all believe this?

Look, TH is a solid football player. Stud athlete, tough, etc

SY never got run out there on special teams, as a running back or receiver, etc

teddy is clearly not the answer ... the saints would have far better chances going with the energy and excitement of taysom hill... (even if he does make a bone-headed decision every now and then)

however... they won't...

the saints will stick with teddy, week in/week out, until brees returns... it's a real head scratcher....

Now this is some TH hype I can believe. He won’t ever be our normal starter, but I think he could do some damage as an unorthodox backup qb

I'm leaning towards giving Teddy another chance. Give him a full week of preparation with the first team. If he's ineffective then you have to move to Taysom. On the other hand I kind of want to see as much of Taysom as possible. If Sean thinks he can become another Steve Young then why not throw him out there and find out?

Hill is the correct answer, because his accuracy and arm strength is comparable to Teddy's, but he is a much better runner and can use his legs more effectively than Teddy.

Instead, we'll just get every excuse imaginable as to why Teddy needs " more time " to prove himself and get ready. Thing is, we have no more time and need to try to win every single game on the schedule.

I firmly believe that he'll gives us the best chance to do just that.

I'm all for TB getting a full week of practice with the first team and letting him start next week. But if he plays like he did yesterday, then you have to give Hill a shot.

If Payton really things Hill is Steve Young, then TB must be kept on a short leash.

Lamar Jackson was a 1st round QB.

What do you mean “if Lamar Jackson can”

You’re surprised he can play because he’s black right?yup

Taysom plays his arse off every play. Bridgewater looked defeated the instant he walked on the field. They should start Taysom based on that alone.

It’s worth noting that the 5.5 YPA would of been much higher without the continuous drops from cooks and few from MT13 — not to mention nearly every decent play we had came back on some type of penalty.

If we are going to use one stat, let’s put it into context.

I'd seriously consider letting Taysom start on the road and maybe letting Teddy start in the Dome.

The Rams ate our lunch last time we played in LA WITH Brees. This stretch vs them and SEA were bound to be tough regardless. You cannot judge TB on that performance given the drops and penalties and injuries (Clapp vs Donald lol)

Evaluate the situation after a full week of prep vs SEA.
