What position would you be mad if the Saints drafted in the 1st round

For me, I would hate if the Saints draft a RB, CB, or S if the first round.

Yes, I know Sean likes his safeties and you can never have enough CBs, but I feel confident w/ Lattimore, Crawley, PJ, and Breaux enough to not spend a 1st rounder on one. I'd hate to waste a 1st rounder on someone who is gonna ride the bench. We need difference makers before Drew retires!

DE, WR, TE, and LB are bigger needs and I would hope the Saints pick the best available at one of these positions in the first round. After that, they can go wherever they want.

And if a QB, Sean falls in love with, I guess I won't be too pissed off.

What about you?

For me, it honestly depends on how FA shakes out. Looking at the roster though, there really isn't a position where I think we couldn't afford to upgrade.

Even at S, with Vacarro potentially leaving, I wouldn't be super pissed with adding a stud next to Williams. All depends though.

But to answer your question, I'd be pissed if it were RB or specialist.

This might be the first year I'll be mad if we picked OL. Unless they planned on something with Armstead, there's way too many holes otherwise.

Long Snapper

But seriously, after last year I won't be questioning much. OT was pretty far down the need list for a 1st Rd selection. That ended up being a blessing that might meant the difference between 11 wins and 7 again.

I don't know. With Strief likely retiring, Kelemete being an FA, Armstead's injury history, Peat's injury, and Unger not getting any younger...I could *potentially* see the logic for taking another lineman.

I'm certainly not for it at present, but you can make an argument that the health of the o-line is the most important factor for our success moving forward.

RB
OL
CB
DT

I would have zero problem with a versatile safety in the 1st round if we let KV walk. I see it as the second biggest defensive position of need behind RDE. I know that none of our LB's are great, but we're pretty deep with decent players (unless we have awful injury luck again).

For anyone arguing against OL... Name me a player that you are comfortable starting at G or T for a stretch next year. Lebrius might be the only name you can even begin to say. This is all assuming kelemete walks and strief retires/cut.

BREAUX WILL NOT PLAY FOR THE SAINTS AGAIN. He is a free agent and I doubt we resign someone who hasn’t played in 2 years and waste more money

Honestly, I'm more excited for this draft than I've been in a long time. Simply because I think we are really on the right track with a good young team. I really can't think of a position other than special teams that would piss me off. I think we truly just go BPA this year and get the best player we can.

QB: Sure, Drew doesn't have many years left
WR: We could use an upgrade to pair with Thomas
TE: Could definitely use an upgrade
OL: Can never have too much talent on the OL
RB: This is probably the only offense position I'd be disappointed in, but if it works out this way (BPA with no other player even close) I probably wouldn't be mad - just confused about the plan

DT: Could use more talent
DL: Would love another pass rusher to pair with Jordan
LB: Could use an upgrade, we have great depth, but no superstars
CB: Would be fun to have 2 elite shutdown corners and bump Crowley inside to the slot (if he's suitable for the slot - I don't even know)
S: Could use more talent - especially if Vaccaro leaves

So, really the only position I wouldn't be happy about is RB, but even then, I don't think I'd be mad.

If it is not a DL/OL I'll be mildly pissed. WR/TE/Secondary can be had later in the draft.

Punter, Kicker, RB or QB

I think we are in the best position to take the best player available. I'd like to see how free agency shakes out first. Even if we got an OL I couldn't get mad. I think this season showed us how you can never have enough quality there. I would like to see us get a great TE or LB if possible. I would rather go after an established DL and WR in FA.

We won't be taking a RB in the 1st round. Somebody should be fired if we do.

I agree with Chad about OL. If a prospect like Ramczyk falls to #27, & he's the highest ranked player on the board...I'd take him.

If we re-sign Kelemete...everything changes obviously. We would just need to acquire a dependable backup RT in this scenario.

RB or specialist.

After that they've earned my trust in recent drafts.

Depends on FA

I don't think there's any specific position that's within reason (obviously a kicker or something would be maddening but that isn't realistic) that would really piss me off. Specific players could piss me off. I want nothing to do with guys like Arden Key or Malik Jefferson.

While I agree, I just think there was more reasoning behind drafting Ramczyk last year than this year.

I just think we need to add a game changer for the defense.

1. We still blitz'd a lot, but our coverage was superb so it was okay. (i.e. we need help at DT and DE opposite Jordan/Rankins)
2. We need better linebacker/safety play
3. One injury to a corner and we're kind of screwed.

None. They’re the professionals who are with the roster everyday. Take the guy in your board who you feel will be the best football player.

With that being said I’m sure a bunch of idiots will meltdown about our picks.
