And that makes you more right than wrong?
You should apply to the NFL. They need guys like you.

Then we are extremely fortunate.

What should our time frame for being a playoff team?
I’d still say two more seasons but you never know. The NFL always surprises.

You can get remotely excited IF they beat Atlanta.

Because that's worked out so well for us.
Let me break it down. Since 2017, we have used a grand total of 1 pick on non OL or DL. That would be Olave.
But boy, have we had some BUSTS in that 8 year period. Davenport, Ruiz, Turner, Penning, and the most controversial, Bresee. But trust me, he's bad especially at stopping the run.

The Saints schedule the remainder of the year is pretty easy….
He has the remainder of this year and ALL next year as the starter …..
Then we’ll know !!!

If he's the actual real deal, and you'll be playing a last place schedule next season. Playoffs as soon as next year could be a real possibility.
I'll believe he's the real deal when Abdul D. Tentmaker gives him his own song.

Playoffs as in winning the division?
The time period should be short.
2 years.

If he's good and can squeeze out 3-4 more wins and look good doing it, I think you go for interior line. Guard play sucks

We have better trajectory than that mess in Atlanta.

Then it speeds up our best case timeline by a couple of years.

If Shough plays the rest of the season like he did against the Panthers, I think you look into a lot of different options. In the immediate future, like next year I think you’d see something like this…
1. A certain trend that seems to really help young QBs continue to develop is investing heavily in the supporting cast, especially getting a star veteran receiver. Diggs was a nightmare everywhere he’s been but he helped Josh Allen out a lot. AJ Brown with hurts. It’s not required but it helps. I could see the Saints vying for AJ Brown or…with reports coming out of San Fran, going after Aiyuk. Something that adds immediate help at WR instead of just drafting one.
2. Going off 1, if they go that route, I think you’d see, outside of maybe taking Reese in the top 5, you’d see a large part of the draft focused on adding talent at RB, TE and probably Guard. Anything that would help Shough continue to improve. His development after showing such promise would be paramount.
If Shough is kind of up and down, shows Carolina flashes, but is more volatile, I think you just stay the course. Add key, cheap FAs, maybe have a more balanced approach in the draft, focusing on adding playmakers if the spot is right but not depriving the defense of talent either. A really good D helps a QB out just as much as good playmakers sometimes. And I think you’d see them play a more wait and see approach vs going all in. But it depends on how well he does. If he balls put the rest of the season, it’s a MASSIVE piece of the puzzle and allows you to be a little more aggressive in team building to spend more on younger, talented players in FA or trading capital for a can’t miss prospect vs just going after the 2nd tier guys like we have done
