Regardless of the records and accomplishments that Sean Payton and Drew Brees put up, the media say that the 2009 Saints Super Bowl XLIV victory has an asterisk on it.

Why do people still say this 6 years later?

Probably the same reason you call yourself a moderate/independent. It’s dumb and completely false.

I'm aware.

But you'd be hard pressed to argue that bounties, if they existed, provided us an unfair advantage.

When you go back and see that during Gregg Williams time in New Orleans the Saints received the second least personal foul penalties in the league and almost never knocked any player out of a game, the argument kind of falls apart on its own. Anyone making this claim is jealous and should be ignored.

That's comical. To act like "bounties" were the reason we won the Super Bowl is absolutely ridiculous.

You don't even hear this from Falcons fans on twitter. It's an issue about as much as the Steelers being the first team to discover steroids is an issue

Much of the media and even quite a few nfl players outside of Saints organization called BS on Bountygate. Even a judge and former commissioner laughed at it. Nobody but ESPN (for about a month) thinks an asterisk should be there

ETA: We did have a few posters come on here and troll us about BG after the Vikings loss in the playoffs
