I wish the mods would move any thread that had even a hint of politics to political talk. I’m so sick of seeing that toxic shite everywhere.

Winston was better than Dalton.

No, he was hyper-efficient TD-wise in 2021 but still inconsistent as it gets and the inconsistency continued into 2022 just without the hyper-efficient TDs.

Nastiness in defense of Winston?

Yes. Simply saying Winston was a bad quarterback, a cornball and not a leader got you labeled as racist among other things.

Nope. You and a few other delusional fans are the only people who would agree on that.

The Saints coaching staff obviously did not think so.

Also, the fact that Andy Dalton was able to get a contract with another team this offseason when Winston could not shows which one of them is worth more right now.

Same position but wrong answer. The Taysom Hill love here and “he’s the future” was downright comical.

Onome Ojo was to be the next great Saints WR…never played a meaningful snap in the NFL!

Perhaps you should redirect your anger at the individual that brought it up to begin with.

Wasnt me. I was just correcting the fake news.

I don’t think many people truly believe we were set with Winston, but there were reasons for optimism and I think there was some really bad luck.

-He played for bum coaches in Tampa
-He played for Bruce Arians and that made his INT problems worse
-Signs with us for cheap, paired with Payton
-He played with an XFL WR corps in 2021, got hurt
-Got hurt again in 2022

It’s a bummer that it never quite could come together because I think it COULD have worked if everything went as planned.

Lol Jamieis didn’t work out because of injuries, and not just his.

The thing is the Saints braintrust believed Jameis was the future.
Fans naturally followed their play.

We gave him a shot. Didn't spend much money or any draft picks on him. If you can find a actual quote from our FO that JW "is the future of our franchise" I'll change my tune otherwise your reading of Saints history is terribly flawed.

I feel like most of the bad opinions eventually get corrected. For example - Rob Ryan was the absolute toast of the town and Ms Maes after the 2013 season.

But for me one that sticks out is Reggie Bush was a bust. He wasn’t gale seyers, but even with the benefit of hindsight he’s the pick at 2. We don’t win the SB or get as far as the NFC champ game in 2006 without him. Even moreso than the oversized hype, I think seeing what Darren sproles and then Kamara could do in this offense post bush has cemented for people that bush was a bust.

That Dennis Allen would be a continuation of the winning culture and that our offense would be fine under PC.

There was really no reason to believe it wouldn’t under PC. Drew and Payton both really loved PC. Was without a doubt wrong in that belief though. Some people just aren’t made for “being in charge”

Simply amazes me Winston still has his fanboys. The excuses they make: bad WR, injuries, etc. Fact of the matter Jameis was the same player we saw in Tampa. An inconsistent, inaccurate quarterback that wasn’t a winner. Had two blow up games with hyper efficient TD production against GB and WAS and people want to extrapolate that for an entire season.

It’s Jameis Winston.
