Once again.

Jameis was a cheap option that gave us Pro Bowl potential at QB. It didn't work out, primarily due to injuries. It didn't cost us anything, in the larger picture.

The only other alternative is to pay mega money for a mid-tier QB or get a top-5 draft pick and be on the right side of variance.

Trevor Simeon should start over Taysom Hill

The majority of this board was still spitting that nonsense when he was 0-4 on the season.

You do realize that both of them are terrible quarterbacks, right?

One is 7-2 as a starter and one of those losses was due to him playing with a broken finger on his throwing hand.

You do realize there are such things as Winners, right? It’s why Taysom Hill can win games at QB with the same roster that guys like Simean, Dalton, and Ian Book can’t win with.

Which part?

That he was cheap? That's a fact

Or that he has Pro Bowl potential? He has actually made a Pro Bowl before Why did that trigger you so?

Nobody said he was likely or even probable to make a Pro Bowl, but he has the potential.

Hill got the Kapernick effect and a lot of luck. It's not repeatable, hence why he only sniffed playing real QB.

I don't think he's even a backup QB for us anymore. He's a severely overpaid "tight end".

I wish the mods would move any thread that had even a hint of politics to political talk. I’m so sick of seeing that toxic shite everywhere.

People on PT would just both that there is too much talk about the Saints and have it moved here
But mods should be able to mark/delete obvious political posts on Saints Talk

That we have to worry about the salary cap. If that isn't the biggest crock of crap on this board....

You realize half the games we even won last year were because Taysom Hill went crazy right?

We were a 3 win football team with Taysom last year.

He "went crazy" one game last year (which did put us on his back for a win): Seattle.

The only other really good game he had was week 1 against the powerhouse Falcons (83 rushing/receiving yards, 1 TD).

On initial glance, the next highest yardage total was 72 yards (no TDs) against Las Vegas

I think he only scored TDs in 2 other wins (PHI, CLE) and both had 56 total yards.

"went crazy" should mean at least 100 yards or multiple scores, right?

He was an alternate his rookie season while throwing the 5th most picks in the league, with a less than 60% completion percentage, an 84 QB rating (good for 28th), while quarterbacking a 6-10 team.

Making the Pro Bowl doesn't mean jack shite. Winston was and is hot fricking garbage.

I agree with this.

Injuries didn’t derail Winston. Winston just flat out sucks.

Injuries absolutely derailed him as a saints starter. Was 5-2 and doing what we needed him to do to win games. I never said he was the future but we go to the playoffs if he doesn't get hurt. And I have always thought Dalton was crap so give me Winston any day

So many people on here desperately wanted Jameis to succeed and be the long-term replacement for Drew Brees.

Imagine fans of a football team wanting their starting quarterback to play well.
