I know you're just trolling and all, but you're missing the point.

Your reaction to Cam Jordan being the best "overall" (ie most complete) DE in football was one of ridicule and scorn.

When someone posted that he was, in fact, the highest rated DE in football last year you started equivocating.

Not trolling. When I think of the best player at a position, I think of a player with sustained success at said position. Once they said overall best DE, I stopped my argument with Griffen because I realized he wasn't in the same category as Jordan. I still did however feel that Mack is #1

ETA: And Jordan is the #2 overall DE within the past 3 years IMO

It’s ok to question the price paid or even the player picked. But you cannot question the need of the position and the fact that the position cost resources to acquire. It’s had to be done at some point. If not now, it would be the same boat next year with Drew a year older and a very late round (hopefully 32) pick.

What I don’t buy into is that this pick will somehow hinder the search for Drew’s replacement or that it’s useless to have Davenport be good 2 years from now. Both of those are stupid. Cam will not be great forever and the Saints will need someone to take up that slack in the future. This move wasn’t just about next year.

That's what I've been trying to say. It's a good now pick, but a damn good future pick also (10+ years hopefully).

Anyone who doesn't believe this was a risky move is delusional.

It was a really bad bet...at this point the Saints are relying on luck.

he isn’t an immediate contributor it’s a big miss considering what we gave up and the position we’re In now.

They gave up next years picks so this is not the case. At this point all we have given up is a 27th pick. This is a guy that will probably start out slow, maybe like Peat, but will have a huge upside and should start showing it by the end of the year. We haven't had 2 studs rushing the passer since Swilling and Jackson. Add a great secondary and maybe the best offensive backfield and offensive line in football and you have the recipe for a Championship.
I love this pick, but I love to Gamble. Sometimes you have to throw it all in the middle to win big..

Did you watch last years draft? Do you remember us moving up? Do you remember everybody on here blowing up about trading up for a running back...until he became Rookie of the year.
Thats what I mean by gambling with big returns. Based on what we have done in the draft the last 3 years, I will trust the Front Office on this one. No offense...

Pats are drafting , including trading , to fill specific need , no BPA .

None taken, people need to get past this idea that if a fan doesn’t like a move he thinks he know more than the front office I don’t. But as Mike Triplett put it if you trust the FO with this move then you should trust them to get good players at 27, in the fifth and with next years 1 too.

He will need to to be the defensive equivalent of Kamara to remotely justify using 2 1s on him
