wish him the best. Certainly one of the best in the business.Always enjoyed listening to him do the Saints driving back home after a Saturday night LSU game.

This sounds and is overly dramatic, but I feel like a part of me just died. He’s the best play by play guy of all time in my eyes.
Well every part of this post is ridiculous

I'd rather listen to Albert haynesworth fart.

Even though I didn't listen to his radio calls live, I would always enjoy finding them on NFL.com the next week. I can still recite his call of Hakim dropping the ball. I think I liked that one more than Hartley's kick because it seemed more genuine. It was just his natural reaction. While the made field goal is still a great call in my mind, he had time to think of what he would say if he made it.

After listening to him this year, it was time.
He's had a hall of fame career. But, when the emotion leaves your calls, it's time. I'd be willing to bet that he recognized it wasn't the way it used to be and made the call.
That self awareness is probably one of the things that made him one of the best. I'm glad that we didn't have to sit through a couple of "below par" (based on his standard) seasons.

This likely won't be the most popular opinion but I completely agree. I haven't heard the calls live in years but every time that I've heard the playbacks recently, I just kept thinking, "Dear God, he's become Spock."
I enjoyed Jim Hawthorne and I'm grateful that he's part of LSU lore but it was obvious near the end that he'd lost it and hung on a little too long. Jim seems to realize what's happening and wants to avoid that.
Thanks for everything, Jim. It's been a great ride...and I'm glad that you were there for the best part of it.

Agreed. Now is a good time to move on and get some new blood in there.
Jim did great. Now find someone else

This is horrible. Jim Henderson was the voice of my childhood and teen years and adulthood. Dang.
He is the best I've ever heard. Even keeled, yet passionate. You knew he loved the Saints, but was also objective. I'd watch WWL just to see his sports reports. My Dad and I turned down the sound and listen to Jim and Archie on the radio when I was little.
He was the best.
He will be sorely missed.
Not just the voice of the Saints. The Voice of the Gulf South.

I remember when he first went to WWL, I believe he had just come from a station in Atlanta. He was hired to replace Hap Glaudi, who had been let go. People lined up in the streets outside of WWL and protested Jim Henderson out of loyalty to Hap. Now Henderson is part of the sports landscape of New Orleans.

I'll miss that silky voice through thick and thin. Like so many, I grew up listening to Jim and Archie call the games, and the dry wit made the lean days tolerable. Flying pigs would have been unimaginable in those days.
We also had the fortune of being his neighbor in Algiers for a couple years before they moved to the Northshore, when I was in jr. high. He was as nice in person as you would think, and very much a regular guy (and a decent tennis player to boot). I went back and forth between wanting to be a sportscaster like Jim or weather guy like Nash.

Sad day. He was still good but the passion has been squeezed from his voice. It almost feels like someone did him wrong with the way he had acted over the last 2-3 years. I don't think it was age. Seems like an agenda
Tim Brando would be a fantastic replacement as would Sean Kelley. Hire Brando and bring in Solomon Wilcotts or Patrick Netherton to do PBP
Rich Waltz just got let go by the Marlins as their PBP. He has a long list of football experience. CFB, Areana, NFL Europe, NFL preseason.
It's clear his replacement isnt with WWL.
