Dissapointingly only one OG on the list. Also a few tackles and a couple centers. Hopefully some more IOL become available, I'd love to get at least one starting guard in FA to take the pressure off the draft.

I've been talking about this for a while. Good OL rarely make it to FA. I've seen "just sign a good OG in FA" like 10,000 times on this board...not easy

It looks like Vera Tucker is the best young option in the market but his injury history make it not worth it imo

quote:

Vera-Tucker has played seven or fewer games in three of his five NFL seasons. He’s torn the triceps in both arms and suffered a torn Achilles that limited him to just five games in 2023.

ETA
Did some digging and think this one would be a top target if we spend on it, Wyatt Teller

A lot of those will not make it to FA either. Hell, they have Lindenbaun on that list, and he's considered one of the best Centers in the league. No way Balt lets him test the open market.

And Aaron Rodgers the 8th best FA? That's a hell of a jump based on name recognition.

Haven't been paying attention this year, is Malik Willis playing that well to be the 25th best FA? Or are we going off of name recognition again?

Alontae Taylor at 13

quote:

I’m probably overrating Taylor a bit, especially considering how volatile cornerback play can be from year to year and scheme to scheme, but it’s hard to find long-armed corners with positional versatility and great recovery speed like Taylor. Per PFF, Taylor has played more than 1,500 snaps outside and more than 1,500 in the slot in his four-year career. He’s an aggressive, high-effort player, which can lead to blown assignments and missed tackles at times. But he still has high upside and seemingly has a positive attitude. If he signs a contract somewhere in the $10 million to $13 million range, similar to other slot types who’ve agreed to new deals in recent years (like Marcus Jones, Taron Johnson, Jourdan Lewis, and Kenny Moore), Taylor could be one of the high-value gems of this free agent class.

If he's willing to sign a multi-year deal in that $10-13M range, I don't think he hits the legal tampering period.

As tempting as it is to dream about FAs the Saints need to build through the draft for one more year.

If they could ger a FA guard I would be opposed to it but reality is anyone who could help this team on the interior O line will not hit free agency.

Kyle Pitts is the only other FA I wouldn't be mad about going after.

Other than that use all 8 draft picks on youth infusion on this roster.

2027 should be the year to think about making a big splash in the FA market.

We don’t need a top 40 guard we need some average to slightly above average players to give the qb a fighting chance up the middle while we rebuild the roster and hopefully give some drafted interior o line time to get up to speed as solid starters.

If our two first round picks continue improving at tackle then they will hopefully help the guards a bit.

He’s accounted for himself pretty well in spot start situations. I’d much rather have him than Kyler’s bloated arse contract.

Dalton Risner - pff has him as the 23rd best guard and Bengal fans want him back. He’s a RG so he’d be a great replacement for Ruiz.

They don't have any say in the matter.

Same thing with the Jets. "No way they let Vera Tucker walk".

He's a FA so they don't have a choice and the taxes/ living cost make it tempting to leave.

Why would those guys have any loyalty to underperforming teams that seem to be going nowhere.

This makes it hard for me to take your other opinions seriously

Did you just lump Baltimore & NYJ together when discussing underperforming team that seem to be going nowhere? They are having a bad year, and will only be the 2nd time a Lamar Jackson led team did not win 10+ games. Both times Lamar missed 4+ games

Also, they will most likely tag him if they don't have a long-term deal in place.

Yes that's exactly what I did. 8 years with Lamar and only 1 CCG appearance? A loss by the way. Oh and then they go ahead and add Henry/ Zay Flowers and are almost worse?

Yes the team who has underperformed and actually got worse when they got more talent is going nowhere.

Going nowhere as a 1-16 team is directly comparable to going nowhere as a 9-8 team. Its actually worse than the Jets, how much more could Baltimore even do?

The 2026 Draft class is also weak at the position.

Juwan Johnson played well enough to not need a top tight end.

I said in a few threads before this ain’t the fa class to get a guard. We can probably sign one of the older ones to a one year deal and draft one in the third round and hope for the best.

We should come to terms with either Francis Mauigoa or Fuaga being one of your starting guards in ‘26
