Okay I see. We need them to lose today in case green bay wins so then we can get 2nd instead of 3rd if 49ers lose next week
This appears to be the most concise explanation (that is also accurate) of why a Seattle loss today helps

Pretty sure we needed SEA to win.
We needed them to win their division because we hold tie breaker over them but not SF.
Now SF wins the division they automatically have 1 seed. We’re just hoping for 2
What a dumbass. Seattle already has a victory over the 49ers. Another Seahawk victory gives both teams the same record & the Seahawks would have the tie breaker. In that situation the Saints get home field as long as Green Bay loses tomorrow night or next Sunday.

Awesome this should be over now

Seattle loses today, and now has the same NFC record as the Saints.
Saints now hold the tiebreaker over Seattle.
Seattle beats SF next week, Saints have tiebreaker over Seattle and would have a better overall record than SF.
GB loses tomorrow, Saints finish with tiebreaker over Seattle, and better overall record than GB and SF. #1.
And of course this is all assuming Saints take care of Carolina next week.
Got it?
Good.

Need a Packers loss tomorrow night to complete the weekend.
The 9ers win fricked it though. Gonna make it almost a 50/50 shot at the 1 seed.

Why not sticky a thread with different Saints scenarios?

That's cool and all but it didn't matter if Seattle won or loss today.

Pulling for Minnesota and Seattle
Probably better chance at #2 seed
Posted on 12/22/19 at 6:43 pm to BigBrod81
Is there a chance we can still get the #1 seed?

Seattle lost today and a Saints win next week...the Saints have a better overall record than Seattle.
Seattle win next week plus Saints win next week means the Saints get home field advantage.

I'm explaining the scenario that we need to be #1.
Not #2.

Great chance both minn and Seattle could win.

Not #2.
To be #1 all the Saints need is a Minny win over Green Bay and a Seattle win over SF.
The Seattle/Arizona game had no meaning on being #1.

Goff fricked it though.
FIFY
Goff's boneheaded pick 6 was the turning point of that game last night. Without that pick 6, I think the Rams would have won. The points but more importantly the momentum the pick provided, screwed the Rams.

I'm out. I'm not explaining it again.
You fricktards should just do your due diligence as fans.
