This team quit on Dennis Allen

It is obvious to anyone that watches football that all of the vets on this team are completely checked out. I think the most impressive thing about Dennis Allen is that he lost his lockerroom in under 10 games, which is hard to do.

The veterans on the team have no motive to sacrifice their bodies playing hard to try to win a down. None.

Bad leadership from the head coach is poison to an NFL locker room. Too many alphas and too much ego for a loser to be in charge.

I’m so glad I dont have to watch this team any more this year.
Its a relief.
I’ll be getting all my Saints news from here the rest of the way.

It has more to do with DA being a horrible coach. The team is undisciplined, and I'm pretty sure he is handcuffing the OC. You can't blame Winston anymore, and now you are saying the players quit. All the blame is on Dennis Allen.

The real question is will he be a one ans done.
I sure hope so.
A good coach could turn this team around. There is too much talent on this team to be this bad.

Honest point, this isn't even a desirable job right now. Maybe hold out one more year. ONLY and ONLY if Mickey identifies early a singular candidate he's overly enamored with that he knows he can snag.

It’s probably a bottom 3 job in the league given the cap situation, lack of pick, market, and instability at Qb.

He took the perennial winner that Payton made and turned us back into the same old Saints in less than a year.

Honestly it's better for us anyways. Improve our 2nd round pick and keep those dudes healthy

The trade was a loss, the signing was a loss, free agents were a loss. We have to accept it and just move on.
I get he's dealing with injuries, but so did Payton. Guess what Payton did? Go 9-8.
For all the shite talking that's what a good leader does. This is what a poor one does.

I don't think they ever bought into Allen. They've looked like shite from the start

you could see it in many players lack of effort such as landry and all the DBs, and then with kamara for sure, on most every run he stopped pushing at first contact, and went down every time. i cant ever recall seeing him go so many 1-2 yard runs only for an entire game like that. i think only once he had a wide open hole to run through and got over 5 yards on that carry.
but i think the question is 2 sided, dids the team quit on allen, or did allen quit on the team, and just treat this job like it would work on cruise control, afraid to make any changes, thinking he could ride paytons team, as-is, and have it work.

it goes more than that, its the GM giving away multiple years of our future draft picks as well, he needs to go.
no self respecting coach who wants to win will agree to come here as long as the GM is setting fire to our future draft opportunities for several years out, thats the ammo they need to fix this team and loomis is making sure there is no future

This is definitely a team quit on the coach scenario. Think of which players have stood out the most this season (Olave, Werner, Ruiz, Taylor). These guys are all young and hungry to improve.
Now think of our star vets that have dropped off (Davis, Lattimore, Honey Badger, Davenport, Onyamata, Thomas, Landry, Kamara). These guys are seasoned pros that are not going to take any extra pounding for a losing effort.
Hell, the only vet that you can really point to that is bringing it every game is Cam Jordan.
When your vets tune out the coach, the team is lost.

and im not 100% sure he isnt taking plays off too, he kinda stopped having any impact in games but that could be from other guys not helping since he cant do it all by himself. but it does make you wonder if he too might be accepting the situation

I don’t think this is an accurate description if events.
From the first snap, this team wasn’t competitive. Allen has created this environment and culture that resembles giving up.
But, at what point did you see this team fighting? This team, despite how it entered the season on paper never believed it would compete.
Allen somehow didn’t recognize the value Ceedy brought to the defense. And the DL has become very average overnight. His defense is now below average which makes this team well below average…probably a bottom 8 team.
And that doesn’t even reference the decision to choose Carmichael as OC.
Allen is gone unless ownership simply is too inept to recognize the issue. I think that’s a possibility. Frankly, he should be fired right now.

He’s just done athletically. Effort is there. It just isn’t enough to impact the game anymore.
