- Michael Thomas situation is much bigger mess than we have admitted to and is not done. Will have to give him away because no one giving up top picks for often injured diva.

- Salary cap hell will cost us top talent to get under and also mean we're not players in FA to reload

- We're not getting one of these big name QB's because we can't afford to lose the draft capital it would cost and couldn't afford the contract if we did

- Offense without MT and a QB is down right pathetic and completely depleted outside Kamara who will now be looking to make an exit soon and a couple O-linemen.

This was always going to be the cost of going all in with Brees these last few years. SP saw the doomsday scenario ahead and decided to get while he still managed a somewhat respectable season with what we had. He goes to Dallas next year and hopefully we can get a decent pick or two and a player. I don't blame him, but he definitely did not leave us in a good position with his exit. We go from being 2-3 offensive pieces away to impending doom. It was a hell of a ride though!

The truth:

This board has manufactured the MT drama. Nothing in the past 3-4 months has pointed to there being any issue between the Saints & MT. We are not trading one of our best players.

In 2017-18 you would of said do whatever to run it back. In you I mean all of us

2nd. I completely disagree with kicking the can any further. Cut it up and do what you gotta to get out of annual hell. In other words Pay the Bill and move on

Bengals were 2-14 two years ago

Absolutely, I was part of the all-in crowd. Now the time comes that we all knew was coming despite not wanting to admit how bad it would be. It's going to get blown up and it will probably take a few years to recover.

Its like everyone on this board that says this has no idea of the cap implications of doing so.

Sounds like we shouldnt trade our top wide receiver that will cost us over 20 mil against the cap

The actual truth: the Michael Thomas situation is not near as big of a deal as fans make it out to be, he has had a run of bad injury luck (with a little bit of poor decision making sprinkled in). It’s football, one of the most brutal sports there is, it happens.

The actual truth to non morons:

1) MT isn’t being traded

2) we can get $30M above the cap without losing any “talent”

3) we could easily afford any QB contract in the league other than Patrick Mahomes

Go back to the rant.

The truth is we are about to start year 2 of a 3 year rebuild. We are a decent QB and another WR away from being a 10-12 win team.

Not bad for a rebuild year.

This is exactly why you don’t rebuild right now unless other dominoes start to fall. When you are just a few pieces away from contending, you don’t blow it up. How stupid must we be to want to blow up a team that is so close to contending?

When we are looking at multiple holes on this roster (and it’s coming in the near future without great drafts)? That’s when you stop kicking a can down the road in this league.

I love how this board conveniently fricking forgets the fact he put off his scheduled surgery in the offseason that would have had him back Week 1.

Imagine if the franchise had an asset they could trade...I don't know, maybe one of the top 5 coaches in the league?

He didn’t do anything to spite Payton. You people are retards. Thomas has been making a ton of tweets about how much he loves Payton

The Truth? Some of you love the woe is us every coach is leaving narrative. Every LSU coach from Mike Archer to Les Miles was going to leave Skip Bertman was going to Miami and now you see the schoolX is interested in Will Wade.

Another truth is no matter how big of a “mess” a team is it can be turned around quickly. It happens all the time. The worst stretch for the Saints under Benson’s ownership was 1994-99, 6 losing seasons capped off by Ditka’s 3-13 and no first round pick yet Haslett came in and went 10-6 and won the first playoff game the next year

In fairness his last year was the Katrina year and he played 16 road games but he wasn’t a great coach and had Aaron Brooks. But he took over 3-13 team without a first round pick and went 10-6 and won a playoff game. Which btw is exactly what Payton did, whoever comes in now is taking over a team that WS a Rams choke away from making the playoffs.

Did ST send out a bat signal for morons or something? The idiotic takes on this board the last two days is overwhelming!
