The Saints aren't drafting a QB, guys.

Certainly not in the first round. The far more likely scenario is that DA and the rest of the clowns get the boot after missing a layup of a playoff birth this year. A new staff is brought in to maximize the current investment, and the high pick gets used on an O-lineman or playmaker to help out our overpriced QB.
Get a head start on embracing that reality so that you're not so shell shocked when it happens.

Loomis is going to pick a retread like Ron Rivera or Jim Caldwell.

New staff comes in they will 100% draft a new QB. DA stays and we get a new OC, 1st round QB is 50/50. DA & Pete stay, 100% drafting a luxury pick or reaching on a project pick

We’ve already invested a lot in Carr, so cutting him
Would be a tough pill to swallow. I agree it COULD happen if a new coach comes in and a complete rebuild begins.
But my gut says the OP is correct and Carr will be the started again next season.

If DA stays no way they draft a qb. He will want a win now player and won’t do that to Carr after begging him to come.

You don't cut him. You can't. You let the rookie sit a year a learn the offense. Maybe towards the end of next year give him some run. Then you are off Carr after next year.

If a Qb is available, why wouldn't the new coaching staff take a QB ?
The new coaching would want to get their " own " guy
Have him sit behind Derek Carr next year ( ala Mahomes/Alex Smith)
Let Carr get beat up next year meanwhile they have a franchise Qb on a rookie contract . Basically 4 years to evaluate what they have

I think it's 2 years assuming some Loomising doesn't happen. But the draft is deep at QB and more teams should look at the GB model. They had Favre for a few more years, then took Rodgers late in the first and had him sit 3-4 years. Had Rodgers for a few more years, then took Love and had him sit 4-5 years.

Daniels has moved too far up the charts in recent weeks.

The Saints are 100% drafting a QB if they get one of the top 3.

There are like 4 other QBs that are likely to go top 10-15.

I would absolutely love it if we fired Dennis Allen and took an offensive lineman next year. There is no veteran QB who could come and fix this team and there is certainly no rookie QB who is going to fix this team.
Fix the offensive and defensive line this offseason. Find a safety to take over for Mathieu. Find a LBer to take over for Davis.
Then draft a rookie QB and take the Mahomes route like they did with Alex Smith. Otherwise you become the Panthers with Bryce Young or the Bears with Justin Fields.

All things considered, leaving Carr's contract alone would be the smart move (next year).
It allows you to get out in 2025 (saves 28.6mil with 17.1mil dead). If not than after 3 years in 2026 (saves 44.3mil, 11.4mil dead)
Restructuring just makes that money harder to move on from.
Reality is you can get under the cap without touching Carr's contract
Restructures to:
Jordan
Lattimore
Ramczyk
Kamara
Davis
Hill
McCoy
Ruiz
Granderson
Make more money by extending CGM, possibly Peat if he's willing.
Post June 1 cuts to Maye or Mathieu (gains 7.5mil or 9mil respectively).
Only major free agents this year:
Jameis Winston (Backup QB)
Michael Thomas (#2WR)
Andrus Peat (Starting LT/LG)
Malcolm Roach (Rotation DT)
Rasheed Shaheed (ERFA - #3WR); easily kept
Zach Baun (Backup LB)
Replacing production won't be too hard side from Peat/Thomas.

We can cut Carr anytime. No one will claim him and take on his contract.

Nice breakdown.
I have a feeling if they bring in a new coach, there might be major roster changes.

This. Which is why, barring us losing out (which won’t happen when we play the pitiful arse Giants and Panthers) I think they just bring DA back one more time with a new OC.
I think they (Ireland, Loomis) are far more willing to be ok with having a shite season next year so that way they can start fresh with a new QB and new coach/OC in 2025 when they can release Carr. They can’t release him next year (cap hit would be detrimental) and you don’t really want Carr hanging around being an a-hole if we do hire a new coach/OC and that new coach/OC would rather see Daniels or Penix or whoever out there instead of Carr.
Obviously the best case scenario is hiring a new coach and getting a QB but I just don’t think they’re going to throw away the investment on Carr after 1 year and despite what the last few years say about his ability, Loomis isn’t dumb and he knows a new coach isn’t going to want to hang his success on Carr’s shoulders. We wouldn’t be able to get anyone worth a shite to come here without some kind of hope beyond Carr at QB

Which is why I think regardless of what happens, I think DA just comes back with a new OC and Carr. You reset in 2025 after Carr is gone and get a new coach with a likely top 5 pick that can just get the guy he wants.
I fully expect us to take either an edge guy like Latu, Turner or Verse or a Tackle like Joe Alt (if he even falls that far) or Latham with our first round pick.

Our offense is too complicated for Carr.
