Which is a painful reminder Gayle is in over her head. Deep down we all know a failed furniture shop decorator matching wits with Kraft, Jones, etc isn’t going to go well.

Not true.

A good coach and oc could've done much better than what they did.

Allen is the one who went our and got Carr. That was all him.

When you go about the approach the Saints did, there is 0 room for error. YOU MUST DRAFT WELL.

If you don't you are fricked.

If you put yourself in a better cap situation and are able to get THE QB, you have room for error.

Saints approach has none, and they drafted horribly to boot

The Saints fewest wins since 2005 is 7. How many franchises can say the same? This board would have been in total meltdown if they just tanked and won only 10 to 12 games over a two year period. They have not always made the playoffs but were in the hunt until the last game almost every season even of they fell one game short or missed by a tie breaker. They have had the tenth most playoff appearances and tenth most post season wins in the past 20 seasons.

When you have a HOF coach and QB that’s not a surprise.

Problem is we have neither now and will be sniffing playoffs for remainder of this decade.

You have no way of knowing how the Saints and the rest of the NFC teams will evolve over that period. Injuries, age, free agency and drafting all factor in to it. The franchise has certainly fared better than any of the division rivals over the past decade. The division is incredibly competitive. Had the last second FG by the Saints against Green Bay last season been successful the Saints would have been hosting a playoff game and the Bucs would have been packing up their gear. The same close finish will likely occur this season.

You sure? Atlanta got better. Coaching is questionable still, but their talent is.

As everyone has said, if you are going to spend a lot on veterans, you have to hit on your draft picks whose rookie contracts are cheap. Too many misses. Overspending in FA made the problem worse. Now, it’s not about shedding contracts via cuts, trades, etc. The FO is stuck for a while with the choices they made. 2026 is probably soonest they can fix.

It’s why I’ve been saying for three years now, to bring in journeyman QBs and let them battle it out. Could have had Baker for nothing last year. Jimmy G for nothing this year. Pay the most expensive position on the team peanuts until we get out of this mess…

At least bitching is diversion. Watching this team this year will be like getting a root canal-somehow numbing & painful at the same time.

Fans will still watch, but they have every right to bitch about management!

You are the most insufferable type of fan there is. Even when the sky is falling, you talk shite to any other fans voicing their concerns. "DoNt WaTcH tHeN!"

Sports forums are for this exact thing. To criticize the team, to share ideas for the future construction of the team, to talk about the previous teams, and mainly to vent. If you don't like reading those things, maybe you shouldn't come to these boards.

Carr was injured in the Green Bay game with the Saints firmly in control. Once he left the game the offense stalled and Green Bay was able to take the lead. They gambled and made the two point conversion needed to go ahead. Grupe missed a very makeable FG at the end. Had he made the kick Carr is in the playoffs and Baker is headed home for the off season. Lets see how year two goes for both.

to be fair, Drew retired after 2020

we suck in 2021 and draft who?

21 and 22 are some rough draft classes. We’d still likely be looking for an QB

We had this debate 3 years ago. The vast majority here wanted to retool, new coaches and work on the cap. We could be looking at firing them all right now and looking for a new QB who knows. The one thing that would have looked better is the cap. How could it not lol

yeah people were way too high on Jameis and way too low on Brees.

those new games where drew was hurt really had people thinking we could be better without him.

The literal worst position you can be in is the Saints right now. Horrific cap situation that will take years to get out of, old roster, no depth, terrible talent, mediocre QB you're stuck with, unlikely to completely bottom out unless you have mass injuries (!). Just stuck in the bottom half of the middle with no hope.

Its far better to bottom out but have cap flexibility and the ability to draft who you want towards the top of the draft.

It’s a message it’s to talk about our poorly run team comrade. Sorry if any criticism is too much for you to handle. What exactly should we be discussing at this point? How if we can just get a few guys back we’ll DEFINITELY make a run!!
