The Rams better win it all this year or they are in trouble because their draft assets are pretty much gone. They got one hell of a player but one that will be 30 soon and he’s only going to keep getting more expensive. Jared Verse was what made this a win for Cleveland. Love the draft assets but they get a plug and play Pro Bowl talent player still only 25 with a year left before you have to pay him.

The Rams just better hope the league never outlaws cash-over-cap. Also, if too many of these big acquisitions busts out (or Simpson turns out to be trash), they are fudged.

The last thing to leave a gunslinger is his arm. Same way with Favre. Besides possibly Jay Cutler, I don’t think the NFL has had a guy with the natural arm strength that Stafford has since Favre. It’s fitting his best friend since childhood is Clayton Kershaw. The money thar has been made between those two guys is staggering.

They had no draft assets for years and still had way better drafts than Loomis.

Puka, kyren williams, Kobie Turner, Young, Lake, etc, all taken 3rd round or later..

McVay is gonna try and win another and then he’s out. He doesn’t care if the cupboard is empty.

I would try to pry Ward from them. Give them Kool-Aid and a 1st. They are in full rebuilding mode.

When rumors of potential retirement first came out a couple years ago I immediately thought of him going the route of Sean Payton and taking a break, for whatever the reason, then coming back

Urban Meyer is another I thought of with the comparison being Meyer "retiring" after Tebow left Florida similar to McVay's retirement rumors when Aaron Donald & Matt Stafford were being rumored to retire as well

Maybe. But Cleveland is inept so they will blow it.

I wonder if Simpson is the hail mary to see if they can get a QB in waiting setup to entice McVay to stick around after Stafford retires. Then he truly goes the Payton route where he tries a "reload" year or 2 before it "becoming too much" and he retires to go into TV.

It helps when the NFL is in bed with the team, or the owner. The NFL is doing all they can to make the Rams successful. Cleveland didn't even let any other teams know they were dealing Garrett. Does anyone else find that suspicious?

They have one of the best coaches in the NFL. They've had 3 first round picks in 10 years. That includes Simpson. Yet they continue to remain among the best teams in the NFL. Saints fans would love the Saints to have been the Rams the last 10 years. They keep trading away picks , yet they keep winning.

Cash-over-cap. He's the only owner liquid enough to do it to the level they do it. Maybe the Waltons in Denver could. But Gayle couldn't, nor could 90% of the other owners.

I didn’t think about that, as I’m generally not a conspiracy theorist. But it is almost identical to the Luka Doncic NBA trade to another Los Angeles team. It seems nobody had a clue Dallas was even shopping him. At least in the NFL instance, Cleveland got decent value back, unlike the Mavericks.

Cap doesn't really have anything to do with it. The question is, how bad do you want to win ? Takes huge balls to make a trade like that. It also takes good coaching a competent front office. There are a few teams that keep winning. Mostly because their front office work is better.

I think the Rams had been trying to get him for a few years and good for Cleveland for not only getting good picks but getting a pretty good player also.

Todd Monken also had said that he had still yet to meet with Myles Garrett.

His no trade clause keeps them from blasting it around the league. The reality is, if they were the ones to initiate it, they would only work with teams he approves.

If the Rams were aggressive and made an offer they couldn’t refuse, they may have chosen not to ask around - due to no trade clause

You make the call to every team he will go to. Anything else is a dereliction of duty.
