We obviously know he was limited in practice and then had an interview in front of his locker.

He said doctors told him that his thumb, after surgery, wouldn’t be healed for three months, which puts him fully recovered around the 49ers game until the end of the season. So since he won’t be 100% until then, does this make anyone else nervous for when he comes back this week or against Atlanta?

What kind of Brees should we expect? He says he isn’t rushing to get back because he doesn’t want to not be healthy and risk hurting the team but we know how much of a maniac Drew is. Does Payton do the right thing and play Teddy?

Link of his interview is below. I’m sure most have watched by now

The Saints should bring in Andrew Luck* to show Brees how to only throw a Nerf ball for ~4 months of rehab and term it “progress”.

*he of the world’s worst neckbeard and matching awkward laugh and (sadly) a pretty funny parody Twitter account spoofing him

I hope they’re just messing with the Cards preparation. Brees looks like he plans on playing but admits, he’s not quite ready as of now.

I hope he takes the week off. He’ll get an extra 2 weeks if he just waits.

He’s by far our best option when healthy but he’s acting so insecure about his job, I hope he doesn’t rush back

There is a difference between being fully healed and being able to use it. He will have pain and stiffness for the next month, and will need the splint, but he should be able to play through it.

Makes zero sense to play Brees this week.

Dress him and have him ready as a backup in case of emergency.

I'm almost to the point I wouldn't even mind them sitting him for the Falcons game.

I really want to see Teddy beat the Falcons. Brees can whop the Falcons in the second game.

But will the pain affect the strength or grip he has on the ball? It could be. I wouldn’t be surprised if he had a few sluggish games and people on here start saying he’s done just because of the thumb.

Well, that IS a Brees thing. He lost his job with the Chargers due to injury, and that team was building when he was there. Rivers had a good offense; you don't think Brees wouldn't have, too? Best TE in the game, best RB in the game.
He used that as motivation to get where he is now; so OF COURSE he's going to act that way. You laugh because he's a legend now, and certainly the Saints won't drop him... but he's hardwired his brain to be that way. He's going to break every record, play longer than anyone else, you name it- Brees won't give you a reason to look elsewhere.

its nothing more then he can throw but isnt very accurate right now with the brace and its a learning process.

its nothing more then an accuracy issue right now

my personal belief is he knows they will wait to play him after the bye when he "may" be able to throw without the brace by then.

i want him out there just as all of you but if hes inaccurate and throws 2-3 picks because of it then teddy might be a very boring and low scoring but safer option to not turn the ball over

Brees will probably be playing with that brace the rest of the season. If he’s not accurate now he never will be unless he just decides to ditch it

What happens the first time he gets pushed the ground, sacked, etc. and lands on that hand? or worse, tries to save the thumb but not using it to brace himself, and instead hurts something else?

he mentioned in the interview that if the brace bothers him or effects his accuracy he may try to go without it. i think that says it right there that its going in the trash ASAP if it reduces his ability to play
