Interesting the Mavericks owner is selling his majority to a casino owner that will build a casino and new arena in Dallas. Sounds like Texas is about to legalize gambling.

Could you see Gayle selling majority of team to Caesars for perhaps a new stadium one day?

"Caesars" cannot own the team.

NFL rules do not allow it. Needs to be people with 1 person being a front person and having a majority interest.

Corporations or investment funds to my knowledge cannot have majority ownership

Fear? shite, we hope she does. We need a strong owner that's not afraid to hurt feelings or offend anyone

The Saints aren't moving anywhere, the league isn't going to let it happen.

Pelicans will be kinda fricked though

Jerry Jones has spent something like $50 million in the last few years to install live betting infrastructure at Cowboys stadium. Legalized gambling in TX is coming soon

Major sports are teaming with the fox to protect the chickens.

One day it will bite them badly.

Show me evidence of that? How many team and corporations does Stan Kroenke own?

I bet it can be done.

quote:

The NFL forbids corporations, religious groups, governments, and non-profit organizations from owning stakes in teams.[39] The NFL requires a controlling owner to hold at minimum a 30% stake in the team and forbids ownership groups of over 24 people, or any publicly traded corporations from purchasing NFL teams; one team, the Green Bay Packers, is exempt from this under a grandfather clause and is owned by shareholders. The Houston Texans are also grandfathered in for their home county–the Harris County, Texas government–which owns 5% of the team, as the rule forbidding governments from owning a team became effective in 2007. The NFL's constitution also forbids its owners from owning any other professional football teams, although an exception was made for teams from the now-defunct Arena Football League located in the NFL team's home market. In addition, the controlling owners of NFL teams were previously only permitted to own major league baseball, basketball and hockey teams if they were in the NFL team's home market, or were not located in other NFL cities.[40]

This is extremely common knowledge that you could have found the answer to in 3 seconds. Its not a secret.

I certainly hope so. The cocksuckers at the most recent legislative session didn't even allow it to be voted on.

If Gayle was smart, she would try and line up minority ownership in both teams now from someone like Graves, so there is an easy succession plan for acquiring majority ownership.

Oh you poor, poor man. You think the league is going to save us this time? When St Louis and San Antonio come walking around dangling brand new $2-3 billion dollar stadium plans, is Louisiana going to be able to pull another rabbit out of their hat?

Very doubtful. Legislature does not meet for another 2 years and then it's highly improbable it passes through on the first attempt. That puts it back another 2 years to come up again. Then, even if the legislature passes gambling it's got to go through an election vote. But will fail a general election.

Heck, they can't get the legislature to pass school choice but people think they will pass gambling?

My only fear is that she will be the owner for another 15 years of rotating 8-9/9-8 seasons
