Sean Peyton inquiring about Will Lutz

BREAKING: Per Jeff Duncan, Sean Payton and the Denver Broncos have reportedly inquired about a trade for either Wil Lutz or Blake Grupe. Mickey Loomis is expected to make a choice between Lutz and impressive rookie stand-out Blake Grupe by the conclusion of preseason, and will likely deal the loser for a 6th round pick.

Peyton must have truly hate New Orleans. He obviously liked the players because he’s trying to get half of them to Denver.
As far as Lutz, I’ll take him pre injury. Post injury he’s been a shell. Hopefully he gets back the magic this year unless he’s with Denver.

Go with Grupe. Lutz is damaged goods, both mentally and physically

nailed a 51 yarder with ease in the game, and currently has the longest field goal in camp at 63 yards. I think Lutz will be nails this year.

Whoever kicks in the Colorado thin air is going to look like a long ball star

Good maybe we can get a 5th or 4th for him then.

Keep Lutz. I rather have an experienced kicker than a rookie we really don’t know a whole lot about

Something about this sentence made me laugh.
That aside, why wouldn't the Broncos just wait to see who gets released rather than make a trade? That means they are really only looking to trade for Lutz. They aren't making a trade for Grupe. There are plenty of unproven kickers they can pick up off the street without having to spend a draft pick to get one.
If the Saints really, really think the competition is close, then make the trade and go with the cheaper option (Grupe).

the kid Grupe has looked impressive which is why Payton is inquiring about Lutz, it might be better to roll with him than Lutz who's best days might be behind him. Idk though, whatever they decide I just hope is the best decision.

Is this legit? Or, just message board rumors? Please tell me we have a source and not WhoDat619

I disagree, lets use his hatred of draft picks as much as we can...Anytime he wants to give us an asset for a player we're throwing away the answer is YES please.

yeah, well, I understand your point, and it's a valid point. I just like the way that this kid Grupe has been looking and kicking the ball.

But dude looks like he's always going to be trying to hit up his old team for something, Loomis and Allen need to start sayin NO to his arse.
If he’s willing to give draft capital for a player that was about to get cut, they can keep answering his calls
Should be worth noting, Lutz has a $4.2M cap and trading him saves $1.7M against the cap. He’s also a FA after this season.
Grupe is under contract through 2025. His total contract for 3 years (~$2.7M) is less than Lutz contract for this year
IMO, If it’s close, Lutz is gone

Wasn’t Matt Prater statistically one of the best PK when he was in Denver?

Lutz is worth keeping unless the offer is exceptional.

Hartley and Lutz....two times I thought we'd found a young, elite kicker and then they mentally go to mush
some will give Lutz an injury pass but he was starting to become a little inconsistent even before.
