Sean Payton Gun Control Tweet
Thoughts? Thought we'd get a discussion going

We are all useful idiots in our own way. Sean's made his usefulness just a tad bit more obvious than most.

Guns are an obvious issue in the US, particularly in New Orleans. I'm always amazed at those who claim better laws and restrictions aren't needed.

I'm sure banning guns will stop people from killing each other just like we stopped people from using drugs by banning them.

Idiocy like that needs and deserves to be called out.

thoughts? we crossed the rubicon on firearms a long arse time ago.

just because we need solutions doesn't mean we'll get any. it doesn't mean there are any. it is what it is. we have a serious culture problem of personal accountability in america and there's no way to legislate that away.

I turn on WWL for 2 minutes. We've got a Cajun man talking about how the Communists are coming to take all our guns and Bobby counterpointing with Stalin killing 30 million Ukrainians. High level discourse.

Question Sean....."What new gun law would you propose that would have stopped this from happening?" Crickets.....answer is there is no law that would have prevented that from happening. Lawbreakers break laws and don't abide by them. The left including the late night not-funny guys are suddenly gun experts and are blaming the NRA and Trump while the bodies aren't even in the ground yet. They're turning this into a political statement just like they always do and are letting their emotions tell them that "something needs to be done" when no law passed would have prevented the tragedy. It's one of the drawbacks of a free society.

LMAO do you loons really think more people in this country have been saved by citizens with guns than have been killed?

Why don't you read the link you were provided?

* Even anti-gun Clinton researchers concede that guns are used 1.5 million times annually for self-defense. According to the Clinton Justice Department, there are as many as 1.5 million cases of self-defense every year. The National Institute of Justice published this figure in 1997 as part of "Guns in America" -- a study which was authored by noted anti-gun criminologists Philip Cook and Jens Ludwig.[5]

What bothers me in all of this is that people are just unwilling to have the conversation at all. You mention anything about "gun control" and people lose their shite. I mean, we've had the 2 worst mass shootings in US history in the last 16 months. MAYBE there isn't anything else that can be done, but why not have the discussion to see if more can be done from preventing some of these people from getting these guns. I know there can be reasonable discussion had, but everyone is shouting to loud about one extreme or the other for the discussion to be heard.

Both sides have their hard earned positions and have dug in. Guns tend to be the Republicans and Abortion tends to be the Democrats.

To be fair (I'm neither Repub nor Dem) when have the Dems given into anything in the past twenty years?

The funny thing about people who believe in taking guns away from people that bought them legally is they don't seem to understand that most of the deaths from hand guns are done so with guns obtained illegally. If you take away law abiding citizens guns it will not stop gun violence. I would guess that at least 90% of the people killed in Chicago were killed with unregistered illegal firearms. Hard to take a gun away from someone when you don't know they fricking have the thing. It will solve absolutely nothing and only give the criminals the peace of mind that no one has anyway to truly protect themselves against home invasion or them trying to mug you in the street.

I think Sean should take a knee for gun control. That will go over well in South La.

Do you ever give alcohol a thought or worry? Didn't think so.
Alcohol kills far more people than guns.

It's actually not that easy to kill yourself.
I've seen people fail in all sorts of ways.
But it IS easy to kill yourself with a gun.

Define "easy". I think what you mean to say is "successful". Trying to kill yourself with a firearm or jumping off a bridge are not highly successful ways to off yourself. Around 60% of people who are shot with firearms survive. Not sure for bridge jumpers.

There are much more successful ways. The best and most successful are actually prescription pills. Doctor.
