It's not incredibly off. Depends on how much they want to save money. And if you switch down to 183 or 217 coming back, it still might be enough.

Draft Tek Rich Hill trade value chart

#3 = 514 pts

#8 = 406 pts
#73 = 65 pts

514 vs 471 - 5-10% in leeway and you might have a deal (especially if the Cardinals don't want to pay a #3 pick contract to any of the available players).

I think if they move up they are thinking that #1 pick next year will probably be in the high teens or early 20s .What will they be losing, another Davenport, or the other busts the saints have had in later 1st round. The higher you pick it’s more like a second rd pick.

Too many teams want to do this now, but I agree.

If you're moving up, it has gotta be for Bailey or Reese.

Bain or Downs will be there at 8. In fact, I think you could fall a few spots and get one of these two.

If it were me, I'd stick where I am and take Downs. Day 1 starter. Even if the injury issues are there, you're still probably getting a good version of him through his rookie deal.

I REALLY don't want them to take Tate.

Everyone is assuming Reese or Bailey but there’s been multiple people who have said that the Saints LOVE Jeremiah Love. As in he’s there number 1 target.

I don’t want to trade up at all but when you see what Moore did with Saquon, I think he views Love in that same regard. A potential MVP player one day.

If they do trade up I'd want it to be for either:
Love
Reese
Bailey

Some are also forgetting they could do a combination of a draft pick and a player. Just a thought.

Curious as to why some quote Rich Hill? Has that ever proven out?

Signing Etienne for 8 figures guaranteed and then spending a high first plus another premium pick on Love would be the height of stupidity. We’d be the laughing stock of the league and rightly so

I would rather move back a few spots and take whichever one is available between Downs, Bain, or jordan Tyson or move way back and take CB McCoy

this is honestly a very amateur and lazy take of the situation.

Nah. If they think they could use them both in the passing game and Love is a dramatically better weapon than the available WRs then it’s not stupid. Ultimately developing Shough is the primary goal. If you take pressure off of him and let him have success that’s all that really matters.

Mickey said he knows there will be players they love already at 8. Are the trade up reports smoke screens or are Mickey's words the smoke screen?

LINK ]Reddit - [Serious] Analysis of Rounds 1-5 Draft Trades from Rich Hill Trade Value Chart

It's from last year. It looks to be fairly accurate.

Sample:
quote:

Trade #1

Jags trade up for pick #2 (717 pts), #104 (33), #200 (5) for total of 755 points

Cle gets #5 (468 pts), #36 (166), #126 (21) and a 2026 first-round pick from the Jaguars, which is hard to value but we'll say 10th pick range for (369) for a total of 1024points

Jags premium was ~35.6% steep price (heavily dependent on '26 1st); ~270 points lost

*Jaguars 2026 1st round pick was #24 = 237 pts instead of the assumed 369 pts which lowers the premium substantially.

Trade #2

NYG get #25 for 230

Texans #34 (175), #99 (36), and a third-round selection in 2026 for about 50-78 points, for a total of 261 - 289

NYG pay a premium of about 13.5% - 25.6% or about 31-59 points lost

Trade #3

Falcons get #26 (223), #101 (34) for 257

Rams get: #46 (128), #242 (1) and Falcons 2026 first round pick, again heavily unknown but likely at least 250 points (pick #22) for 379

Falcons (likely) pay a 45+% premium or about 122 points lost

The contract is designed as a 2/24mil contract with 0 guarantees after that; its not too stupid if you think its a 1-2 punch similarly to how Detroit used Gibbs & Montgomery or how we applied Ingram & Kamara.

You have to consider roughly 450-500 total touches between the 2 top runningbacks over a 17 game period.

2023 touches:
Montgomery: 219 rushes, 16 receptions; 235 total
Gibbs: 182 rushes, 52 receptions; 234 total
469 total touches

2024 touches:
Montgomery: 185 rushes, 36 receptions; 221 total
Gibbs: 250 rushes, 52 receptions; 302 total
523 total touches

2025 touches:
Montgomery: 158 rushes, 24 receptions; 182 total
Gibbs: 243 rushes, 77 receptions; 320 total
502 total touches

Now even consider the Ingram/Kamara 2 year run:

Ingram: 368 rushes, 79 receptions = 447 touches
Kamara: 314 rushes, 162 receptions = 476 touches
923 touches over 2 years (461.5 touches avg per year)
***also a 16 game season, 490 avg if 17 games***

Etienne's 4 year average: 224 rushes, 42 receptions = 266 touches
That gives you roughly 200-250 touches for Love his first year.

Now financially its stupid to take a RB that high, but its not unreasonable how to apply both players to an offense.
