he's going to a team that is already good defense and SHOULD win its division.
I think Eagles are a front runner in NFC. They added a lot of really good pieces in FA and Draft to complement what they already had in place. NFC East is dog shite too. I see them locking down home field advantage in playoffs with 1 or 2 seed.

Only thing I can guess is that DA is trying to run things a little more straight-laced than CSP, which I’m not sure is the way to go.

Full trade terms: ??Eagles receive safety Chauncey Gardner-Johnson and Saints’ 7th-round pick in 2025. ??Saints receive the Eagles’ 5th-round pick in 2023 and the worse of their two 6th-round picks in 2024.
Somehow, this is not how I envisioned this trade going down.

Hell make him inactive until injuries hit and people up their offer. This deal wasn't so good you just had to pull the trigger on it today, the Eagles need him way more than we needed to unload him.
I don't see the upside for us in this at all.

It's not going to be a first.
I have a feeling we will be disappointed at the compensation.
Knew it was going to be a shitty return.

What a fricking stupid trade

you can't be serious, right?
I mean…I fricking HATE the trade and the value but like others have said, CGJ can be a real prick and if he was openly disobeying coaching, there’s no telling the affects on that in the locker room or in an actual game. He’s a pretty petty guy, he could totally intentionally frick us over in a game. That would totally nuke his career but CGJ isn’t exactly the smartest guy. And probably the biggest thing…this is DA’s first year as HC. He probably wants the least amount of distractions as possible and a malcontent player like CGJ could undermine him and could cost him the team if he didn’t take action.
Like I said, I fricking hate the trade but their hands were tied. They kind of put themselves in this situation to a certain extent but CGJ certainly didn’t do them any favors and if anything, made the situation a lot worse and accelerated things

one little whisper of "tell everyone he stopped listening to coaches" sways and the black and rose gold sunglass pumpers out there to move their opinion on the trade.

Did the saints not wanna give him a shot at safety?
Both safety spots opened up and they went and signed guys to fill them. That’s pretty much them admitting they didn’t think he was up to the task.

We went from CGJ being a centerpiece of a big trade (Watson) to trading him for a 5th and 6th...bruh
Posted on 8/30/22 at 11:29 am to tigersquad89
Yeah I kind of wish it was an AFC team.
I get the trade. Get something for him. Just seems kind of low for him
Hopefully if we meet the Eagles in the playoffs, he will not be a factor.

I probably would have just let him be a malcontent all year.
I mean, did we HAVE to include a 7th as well? I don’t particularly care about the pick, but just the idea behind it. Did Philly say no deal if we didn’t include that 7th?
I mean a 5th is decent but i definitely would have just held him. Just don't play him if it came to that.
I knew it was going to be bad compensation. They waited to long.
He should've pulled in a 3rd.

Everyone is saying if...then when it comes to that Chad. Are you saying it's out of the realm of possibility?

you know, that might just happen.
NFC West is a tough division
The North you got GB/Vikings likely duking it out. Detroit might throw a few haymakers this year to make it interesting?
The South. I mean it's Saint/Bucs most likely. Carolina might be a sleeper? I mean there is always one that you don't see coming. If not, then I'll bet they make a coaching change after this year. So, it's desperate time for Ruhle which is what I'm getting at.
The East:
Giants- have been one of the worst teams the last few years big mess for Daboll to clean up.
Washington- wentz at QB
Cowboys- probably looking for a new coach next year
Posted on 8/30/22 at 11:33 am to Chalkywhite84
Wouldn’t we have gotten a 3rd round comp pick just letting him walk next year?

This is the first season of Taysom’s new role, the one in which he’s being paid for. Not sure how one can judge his worth before seeing it on the field
Maye is a plug and play coverage safety who will be an upgrade in the run game. He’s proven j preseason that the Achilles is behind him
Tyrann is going to do a lot of the things CJ did. Guard the slot, play in the box. He’s not a “top safety” but doesn’t need to be.
Y’all losing your mind over Patrick Robinson with golds

Quarterbacks have a 59.8 completion percentage when throwing to receivers covered by Marcus Maye in his career (since 2017) That is tied for the third-lowest completion percentage against for a safety in that time

i'm saying its schemed and being dramatic. we just took it up the arse on this trade.

They obviously wanted him gone gone. This is shite compensation.
Posted on 8/30/22 at 11:37 am to GynoSandberg
So, let me get this straight. We trade CJGJ to Philly for peanuts right after paying through the arse for a middle 1st rounder from them in the draft. Sounds like someone on our staff may be getting ready to go to work for the Eagles. Are we intentionally finding a way to assist them?
Posted on 8/30/22 at 11:37 am to touchdownjeebus
The eagles probably told the saints that they have to give him a next contract.
Anything less than a 4th is bad.
He was never going to pull a 1st or 2nd like some people on here thought.
The most you were ever going to get was a 3rd.
