IMO not picking up the 5ht year is not a big deal for him or the team. Sounds like Wilson is excited to be out of LV, (The team not the city per si) and he's happy to be here in NOLA. Also didn't realize this trade had been in the works for some time apparently so he knew the Saints specifically wanted him and wasn't just a draft day trade sweetener. I would surmise based on his comments to the effect, "I'm really glad to get this done finally, it's been in the works for a while." When asked if he knew he was going to be traded on draft day he said to the effect "I didn't know exactly when it was going to happen, but I knew it was in the works."
I'm sure he looks at the Chase Young situation and feels like this could be a good place to get his games where he thinks it should be.
I'm also excited to see him work with Bo Davis and Brian Young (and Jay Rogers but I don't know much about him). I don't know who was coaching him in LV but there seem to be a lot of untapped talent looking at his college reels.
As a side not, he did comment he'll be glad to not have coaching changes every year, He like where the Saints are headed.

An Achilles injury is tough. Still need another CB, treat Emerson as lagniappe
Emerson is an outside corner also, isn't he?
I mean it was him and Denzel Ward as the boundary corners for Cleveland, right?

Yeah he’s an outside corner, he hasn’t played nickle since high school
He says in this interview he’s cleared now and will be full go for training camp but doesn’t want to rush it.
He read something like 15 books while he was rehabbing
Also mentioned he was a Saints fan growing up

I don't think we brought him here for NB. He probably won't compete with Kool-Aid but has a chance to beat out Riley at CB2. Its still an upgrade considering we didn't even have anyone to compete for CB2.
CB: Kool-Aid
CB: M Emerson/ Q Riley
NB: *******/ L Styles
S: J Reid/ J Blackmon***
S: J Sanker/ J Howden
Holding out for a K Moore trade.

Blackmon is our nickel

Could Quincy Riley move inside to play nickel for the #Saints ?

How do we get our TD posts sponsored?

Blackmon is our nickel, he's also our 4th safety. We do not want our 4th safety starting at nickel. That's by default and not necessarily a good thing. Might not be a bad thing either but not ideal considering Blackmon is old, on a 1 year deal, and it does nothing for us long term.
Our biggest needs were pretty much #1 NB1, #2 CB2, #3 CB1. We upgraded CB2 and CB1 is more of a want than a need (pending judgement on Kool-Aid by week 17). Still need a nickel.

6:00 minute mark is a question about playing nickel. Emerson said the team has not specifically asked him anything regarding nickel. They talked briefly about scheme, he hasn't played nickel since highschool but will do whatever we need him to.

I asked Chat GPT how long it takes for an NFL CB to return from a torn Achilles tendon
quote:
For a professional football player (especially in the NFL), a torn Achilles tendon is a major injury with a fairly long recovery timeline.
Typical recovery time:
6 to 9 months ? Earliest possible return to play (aggressive rehab, best-case scenario)
9 to 12 months ? More common timeline for full return to game condition
Why it takes that long:
The Achilles tendon is critical for explosive movements—sprinting, cutting, and jumping.
Even after the tendon heals, players need months to rebuild:
Strength
Balance
Burst speed
Confidence in the leg
Reality check:
Some players do come back in under 9 months, but they’re often not at peak performance right away.
A full return to pre-injury form can take a full year or more, and in some cases, performance never fully returns.
Here’s the realistic outlook based on how teams handle that injury today:
Expected timeline for Emerson
~6–8 months: Physically cleared to run and do football drills
~9–12 months: Likely return to actual NFL games
~12+ months: Back closer to full pre-injury performance (if all goes well)
Position-specific factor (important):
Cornerback is one of the hardest positions to come back from an Achilles tear because it depends heavily on:
Explosive acceleration
Quick change of direction
Recovery speed when beaten
That means even if Emerson returns to the field within 9–10 months, it may take longer before he looks like himself in coverage.
Recent trend in the NFL:
Medical advances have improved outcomes a lot. Some players now return faster than in the past, but teams are still cautious—especially with defensive backs—because rushing it can affect long-term performance.

Torn Achilles will be a prove it deal and yes we should.
Yeah easily the worst possible injury for the CB position but he’s still young. He will likely never be what he would pre injury but if he maximized his recovery then he can be a nice depth piece hopefully.

They do. They’re healed by the definition of basically anyone on earth in terms of functional ability. They just don’t always get the initial ability back of an nfl athlete.
