OTC has been down for me today. Using Spotrac.

That's probably right. I see that $3.7m of his $4.1m base salary is guaranteed, so it doesn't really save anything if a post 6/1 cut, or costs us if pre.

which is why klein is safe for at least another year and brings versatility. Te'o has value too etc.

Two tremendous value signings. Did Ireland lock Loomis in a closet?

He is 29, has one good PFF graded year, and is not particularly good in coverage. $9M/yr is a LOT of money for an ILB that doesn't excel in coverage.

Dont you think the years and price reflect his age and his one really good year?

You can count on 1 hand the ILB that are above avg vs the run and pass. What other option did we have other than trotting out our backup quality LBs? They went and go the best guy out there

Yea right. Kuechly and Wagner are like the only really complete MLBs. That doesn’t mean all others suck

Considering Mauti played real minutes on D last year, we should not release any NFL LBs

I think the contract is expensive based on his age, limited production, lack of coverage skills, and positional value.

He makes our LB depth better and improves our run defense. We are in a win now window so the overpay makes sense, however that does not make it a good contract or a value signing like a lot of people in here are saying.

Wow, thanks.

That video perfectly illustrates exactly the type of high character/locker-room teammate Payton described in detail at the Zach Strief Q&A that he looks for as an essential quality.

Basically said those attributes are equally as important as physical measurables.

I think it is fairly slotted compared to other ILB deals. Not an overpay, not a value. I dont really take issue with his age, though.

in layman's terms, the difference is an 87 (Davis) vs 36 (Klein) PFF grade

New #Saints LB Demario Davis intercepted #9 in NY in 2013. Went out of his way to run by Brees after.

Funny Demario Davis story.....aka cool story bro

The week that we played the Jets I checked him out on my Instagram...... He seems like a cool guy. Family-oriented man. So I followed his account. Earlier that day I had made a post about the Saints Jets game..... A few hours after I followed him , he followed me back.

During the game that Sunday I told my brother that I hope we win by 50 points but I hope Demario Davis has 15 solo tackles.

Current Saints LBers and cap hit:
Klein: 5.2m (6.4 dead cap)
Te'o: 2.8m (300k dead cap)
Stupar: 2.125m (400k dead cap)
Robertson: 2.0m (400k dead cap)
Anzalone: 826k (648k dead cap)

Lets be really honest, Stupar saves 1.7m if he gets cut. He brings nothing to the table as a player, his spot is replaced on ST. He saves 1.7m.

Swap out Davis for Stupar and you have 3 pretty good LBers and 2 quality depth

Also, people need to understand he did get more than Klein got last year, but that makes sense. Klein was a career back up with spot starts when needed due to other players getting injured.

Davis was a full time starter and his production this past season was great.

Yes, he's older, but its only 2 years more in the league than Vilma was when he got to the Saints. Will also depend on the breakdown of the contract.
