quote:Brees is the best weapon on offense. He has made WRs, TEs, and RBs into great players. But he needs protection and he needs a running game; OL has been mediocre since 2010.
so lets trade the best weapon on offense so they can try again
Graham is a distraction and causes Brees to develop tunnel vision.
I'm 100% on board with this. Gutsy move and the right call.

Good. He's been a whiny bitch. He can go waste some other teams' money

I guess the big question now is can Unger stay healthy?

As long as you have a great QB, WRs/TEs are replaceable. New England just won the Super Bowl with avg. to good WRs; Green Bay's WRs aren't bad, but they aren't all-timers either. SF was in the NFC championship game 3 years in a row without anything special at WR. Hell, just look at the Saints 2006 receiving corps. Brees still put up big numbers with that bunch. Keep him upright and healthy and he'll continue to put up big numbers
Fix the OL and the offense starts to get back on track. Use draft picks and whatever money you have left to build up your defense (especially the front 7). It's tough to see a great player leave, but one great TE isn't enough to win a championship when there are other holes on your roster.

I loved Jimmy Graham but he was a $500 toaster. You don't buy a $500 toaster unless your kitchen is already bad arse.
Love the trade more than Graham

I don't have all of the PFF stats on Unger but:
I really don't have a problem at all with the trade except for that it was to Seattle. Of course, most teams don't have a center as good as he is, and those teams with stud centers weren't necessarily in the market for Graham.

Despite playing just 385 snaps he was our fourth ranked center last year with a superb +12.4 grade. He’s a huge upgrade for New Orleans.

Good! F@cking great. That locker room needed some shock and awe the way they pissed around last year.

I don't think it was a horrible trade, I just don't see how NO gave up a 4th RD pick and only got what essentially is a 2nd RD pick.
I would think NO should have grabbed another 2ndRD in 2016

Brees makes the WR's in nola. Jimmy was a great talent, but all of our top receivers have been under the radar.
He'll be missed, but what I won't miss is the triple coverage force throws.

So now the Saints best offensive weapons are an aging Marques Colston, a third-year #2 guy in Stills, or a second-year guy coming off of injury who only showed flashes in the few games he did play. Oh, and Mark Ingram who played well in a contract year.
We still got FA and the draft and this moves gives us flexibility to go get new weapons. Also CSP always finds the weapons.

So Graham is so good he makes our QB play poorly? Sounds like a Brees problem.

I wonder what brees is thinking
He's probably glad. This kind of move doesn't happen if he wasn't onboard.
Graham was a locker room diva last year.

Don't sleep on Josh Hill. He runs a 4.6 and can block.
