I thought you were done anyway?
I think Brees will be glad he will actually play upright this season

-a better OL - top 5 rushing offense
I believe this is the FO's aim. Brees had a 70% completion rate, 3:1 TD/INT ratio, and threw for well under 5,000 yards that year.
Slinging it put up gaudy numbers but never helped win road playoff games (let alone titles).
There are lots of holes on this team to fix, and IMO this is just one step in that direction. I like that they are looking at everything and anything. Players are upset, maybe it's time they started playing like their jobs were on the line.

A better OL - check (Unger alone makes the OL better)
Top 5 rushing attack - possible with MI back
Weapons out of the backfield - I'll grant you this one but Cooks can fill that role, as well as possibly bringing Bush back or another role player like that
WR's - sort of see your point but it's not like that WR corps is tons better than this one

oh definitely.
but the root of that is what has me pissed off. And yet there are people all over my social media celebrating losing Jimmy Graham. They just dont see the big picture.

Loomis is a fricking joke. He just cut Brees off at the knees.
no the o-line did that last year

frick yes, so excited about this.
Dude can go be "if only he wasn't hurt/ not his fault he's hurt" on another team now.

I would say that they are seeing the big picture, though there is no reason to really celebrate this. Just hope that in the future we look back and see what we were able to get because of this trade and are happy.

I don't celebrate the loss of Jimmy. I celebrate the trade. A top center and a late 1st rounder for Jimmy and a 4th. I can definitely live with that.

I can behind this.. draft another linemen in the first room to beef up the line.. Use Cooks like the Packers use Cobb.

I don't like losing Jimmy either. But in order to fix our bigger problems we had to sacrifice a great player. It happens all the time in the NFL.
We fixed our offensive line tremendously. And will likely build our line even further in the draft. It looks like we want to copy Dallas' plan.
We will be fine. It stings losing a fan favorite. But paying a TE 10$ mil isn't smart and most didn't want to do it last year anyway. It shouldn't be that surprising people are happy. Most fans like Jimmy. I know I do, but this is about the Saints. Not players.
I'm for bringing another Lombardi. Regardless of who we get rid of or bring in.

I'm torn in half on this one.
what pisses me off is trading him to an elite squad.
I just hope they struggle to utilize him. They are a run first team and he isn't a good blocker.
We might be able to package our 1st rounds picks and move up or stay put and get two good players.

I'm excited by the thought of copying a Jerry Jones plan.

While I am definitely not excited about the trade, I am trying to look at this with perspective. I think Unger is a huge upgrade. And getting another 1st is huge. Also, not having to pay Graham that salary in the future years will help financially.
I just hope they are not grasping at an idea that getting a nice payback for Graham will automatically fix things.
If they are pursuing a run oriented offense, with a bend/don't break D, then I understand the trade. If they use the picks wisely, and not trade two 1st to get to a fat suckass DT, then I'm ok with it too.
Its all about what they do in May that will make or break this trade for me.

see, you dont get it either. The big picture Im talking about is in the past, not the future. Mickey Loomis is still our GM

That's what I've been trying to say.

You've got Watson and Hill who can be quality TE's. They can replace some of Jimmy's production.
You fix one gaping hole on the OL, and fix one of the guard spots in the draft. Boom, protected quarterback who can still read a defense and pick you apart, plus an OL that can block for MI and KR.
Stills is going to have a breakout year, and Cooks should only get better. Hell, Toon even showed some promise at the end of the year.
We find a CB and a LB and it could be game on.
