Do you even football?

How do you expect to fix our problems by paying a tight end that can't block 10$ mil a year?

I love Jimmy and hate he's gone, but this was the right move. We are trying to fix our problems. In order to do that you have to kill your darlings

Colston had 1074 yards in 2009, followed by Henderson then Meachem. I can see similar production from our WR corps this year.

As it stands, that isnt a winning group. Colston was cut worthy.
Are you familiar with the skill position players on the Super Bowl team? Colston (always slow, had better hands then), Moore (slot UDFA), Shockey (not nearly the athlete Graham is), Devery (one-dimensional, questionable hands), Meachem, and David Thomas.

Stills and Cooks have better upsides, as does Hill, over that group. I don't get the point of downplaying the receivers, because Brees always makes them better -- as long as he has protection.

How many games have we watched since then when it was obvious that beating Brees means pressuring him up the middle? Can't count them all.

They had him blocking earlier in the year, but his shoulder injury put him back into the limited WR/TE hybrid role. The million dollar question will be can his body sustain a traditional TE role. Good move for the Saints, IMO.

the 2009 team had:

-a better OL
- top 5 rushing offense
-weapons out the backfield in Pierre and Reggie
-WR's that complimented one another.

Colston- middle of the field threaet
Meachem- do it all
Moore- possession guy
Devery- Deep threat
Shockey- very competent TE

if you think we are going to replicate that in 1 offseason, you're nuts

We don't need a shite load of weapons. We just need a few. And cheap ones.

The Patriots had Gronk yes, but they also has a beastly offensive line and had freaking Julian Edleman and Danny Amendola.

As someone else said, we didn't even have that great of weapons when we won it in 09.
